So at Sea Otter I asked Continental if the compounds stay the same across the tread patterns and they said yes. So a Xynotal Soft is the same compound as a magnotal soft even though the xynotal is part of their "gravity" range and the magnotal is part of their trail/xc range. I forgot to ask if the casings are the same across tread patterns too... I'm guessing yes. Meaning does a 2.4 xynotal enduro have the same casing as a kryptotal-fr enduro? If the casing and the compound really are the same, then all you are choosing is the...

According to continental, endurance compound is between rapid and grip in terms of rolling resistance but worse than both in terms of grip/damping. I just happened to have the Xynotal in the pile, Dissector 2 seems like a much better option for a fast-ish front

Yeah i'm in a similar boat - I don't need the puncture protection from the enduro casing where I live so it's a bummer you can't get the trail casing and soft / supersoft compound. I ran the xyno/trail/endurance for a brief bit when they first came out and it was fine - got more traction than a MT rekon but didn't run it long enough to get a real opinion on it. As far as compound is concerned, i too would be curious if it's the same. At the same time the knob sizes are so different I'm not...

i also like the looks of a xynotal for the front, but i dont want to have to run the enduro casing on the front to get a soft. Do we know how the endurance compound compares to the xc tires 'grip' or 'soft'? For that matter, is 'soft' the same on the magno as it is on the gravity...

Thanks for the info! Im on a marin rift zone 29. Im pretty light about 150, so the grid casings have been fine for me for my local riding.

Im interested in lighter tires, too. I run trail casing butcher/eliminator right now, and i think id like to try something faster during the summer. I was thinking about eliminator/dissector on the front, but not sure what to pair with it in the rear. Whats up with the purgatory, would that be a good rear tire to pair with an...
This is exactly what I was telling, then shouting, then screaming, then giving up talking about to pro-tariff folks: The quest to extract every cent of value from every nook and cranny it was hiding in ultimately lead to offshoring every single thing that could possibly be offshored...in the 90s and early 2000s. We've had 20+ years of NO real development in that area and any development that happened was then immediately offshored to do it at a lower cost. In doing that, we've been hiring and giving on-the-job experience to anyone in another country who was willing to eat...

Ive been very very happy with the previous gen butcher and eliminator for all purpose riding on the east coast. It sounds like the newer versions arnt necessarily an upgrade. Any thoughts on what might be a good alternative? dhf/forekaster? krypto Re/xyno? Id like to try contis as trail tires, but id really like a super soft trail weight front...

The new dissector looks great, finally maxxis has something to compete with the eliminator. Maxxis has the advantage of so many casing and compound options and the wide availability, i think itll be a really good tire. I picked up a set of Conti Kryptos DH SS to take my trail bike to the park. I know theyre old news...

thats pretty reasonable for the purpose. Good reminder that appearances can be deceiving, i think maybe im used to looking at big old side knobs which make a tire look big regardless of the size of the casing.

I saw some forekasters mounted on bikes at my LBS, and i was really surprised at how low volume they appear to be. I was surprised that they had released a 2.1, but then i saw it was the 2.4 and didnt know what to think. Maybe the 2.6 is the way to go? Looks like a great pattern though

Thank you for the response! What is the reasoning that you choose between the dual DHR vs the HR3 on the front? And what is it about those tires that you prefer them to the assegai? Im trying to wrap my head around what factors would lead me to choose one tire vs another. I wish i could back to...

Hi tirechat. Im looking for tires for the bike park. I only get to the bike park a few times a year, so i take my trail bike. I have a spare wheelset and want to put some tires on there. Im on the east coast, im a wheels close to the ground most of the time type rider, and...
