I don't think that offering a 12-speed upgrade path for people with older bikes was very high on the list of considerations when NX Eagle was designed. Helping bike brands hit an even lower OEM price point by enabling them to spec super cheap, non-XD-driver hubs/wheels was likely more important. Since the future is 12-speed and the future is pretty much now, I think it's legit to design the whole range to run on the same, new freehub driver. We're always complaining about the lack of standards - well here you go, here's a chance to get rid of one...

There’s brand new 5100 and 4100 11-46 and 11-51 10 and 11 speed DEORE for the HG freehub. Relax.

Love that Shimano are sticking with Micro Spline for the entry level group, instead of doing what SRAM did with the NX Eagle cassette (ditching XD driver and going with a reduced range cassette on the old Shimano style freehub driver). What this means is that there is an easy upgrade path available to people who buy lower specced bikes, where they can swap out the cassette to save some weight down the line without having to also get a new freehub driver or potentially even have to change out the whole wheel. Kudos to Shimano on this one!

Thanks It took him around three hours to build it up. It was a really smooth build. TrailCraft makes a really nice frame. Quality, fit and finish reminds me of my Titus. Moro-Lite.
