The Specialized marketing team has declared the Demo 8 “the world’s fastest downhill machine,” that “oozes premium downhill performance,” and by watching the likes of Sam Hill and Troy Brosnan shred the bike to pieces, Specialized has attempted to force you to believe that this bike is totally mega sictor awesome, is mean looking, will impress all of your friends, and make hot naked chicks shuttle you all because you and your bike are so rad. Unfortunately for Specialized, they didn’t drop the ever growing Sam Hill and pay the big bucks to America’s rock Jesus, Aaron Gwinn, who has...

Sounds more like a beefed up Stumpy Evo than a new Enduro.

Exactly what I was thinking. With the Stumpy Evo 26 taking care of that segment, why not keep the beef up front? Spoke to a top guy running 34s at Ashland and he said it was almost as stiff, but not. With a bike like the Enduro, where you can do everything, that 36 up front seems like it inspires more confidence. Haven't ridden the 34 though, but I would miss the beef when sending/dropping/plowing.

everything looks sick except the 34mm forks. Come on specialized, is it really worth those tiiiiny weight savings to ditch the stiffness of a 36 (especially on a DH oriented AM bike.) Bad choice IMO.

I often wonder if trying to replicate exactly WC rider's geometry is the best thing for an off-the-shelf complete bike... These slackened angles and long wheelbases no doubt serve their purpose when riding at Danny Hart speeds on WC tracks, but what about when riding at mere mortal speeds? Would a privateer, riding slightly slower and with less skill, benefit more from a slightly tighter, shorter bike? I'm not talking going back to the days of super-short wheelbases and ridiculous head-angles, just a slightly reigned in version of Danny Hart's machine. I was kind of thinking along the lines of...

I believe they rate difficulty mostly based on the man made features. So a mandatory drop or gap automatically is rated pretty high on difficulty. Gotta think about all the less hardcore mtb'ers that rent a demo bike for the day.

In order to convince people to watch something like road biking, they have to trick people into thinking itis like mountainbiking

Every course needs a dancing track marshall! Great vid. Some survived and some railed. Reminds me that I am great in my own mind. P
