tabletop84 Added a reply to 170mm 36 vs 38 fork: which would you prefer?
3/14/2024 1:37am I have a question to the flex pros itt: Why does a 180 mm zeb a scott ransom eride feel flexier than the 2023er e-optimized (thicker walled steerer and stanctions) 36 in another ebike (conway ewme 2019)? Is it mostly due to the 20mm more travel or is the scott frame that much flexier? Its looking burlier tho than the...

tabletop84 Added a reply to 170mm 36 vs 38 fork: which would you prefer?
3/13/2024 5:51am There is also the 36 ebike version but I think it only is compatible with a 160 mm air shaft max if I'm not mistaken. But maybe marzzochi could be an option. I'm using the 36 ebike on a mid-weight ebike where it doesn't look too burly like the 38 and its perfect for my terrain. Only the Grip2 seems...

3/6/2024 9:13am It retails at over £10k here in the UK. I'd say that's more a case of one bike for the price of two.

2/28/2024 7:23am I also mobilized the pistons many times but that only helped until I did a steep and long alpine descent. It seems to correspond to high load scenarios like brake heavy alpine descends, ebike etc.

2/22/2024 9:35am I also get this problem before the pads are heavily worn. But maybe I damaged the quad ring by doing it idk. I had this with two calipers and I'm running the thicker HS2 sram disc which might be also a factor.

2/22/2024 3:48am Anyone else has the problem that the pistons always end up coming out unevenly and on side of the pads rubs on the disc? It could also be that I exacerbated this problem by running my pads all the way down. Or its because of the heavy strain by mainly using them on long descents on the ebike (but I'm...

12/8/2023 8:12am Not sure if it matters, but my bike is listed as a 2024. I'll check the motor tomorrow and see if it's designated a 23 or 24.

12/5/2023 5:44am Really interesting! The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on a orbea rise is the rattle (and maybe the non removable battery but should be manageable). But its kinda weird that I read and hear accounts like the video I linked above that say and show that at least some ep801 rattle similar to their predecessor.

12/5/2023 5:35am I did that much movement because I was trying to get it to rattle. There were several minutes before filming and it doesn't matter how slow or fast, there's no rattle. As soon as you stop pedaling it's silent other than the freehub. On a ride yesterday there were a bunch of downhill sections with chattery rocks, horse hoof prints, roots, rain ruts, and no rattle anywhere on the trail. I did notice a little vibration at certain cadence and load, but no noise. I'll definitely keep tabs on it though, I'm pretty sensitive to noises and vibrations. I'll tear...

12/5/2023 12:12am Interesting although you did the test with a bit more movement. Do you really not hear any rattle if you push the bike slowy rolling forward while doing it so to relieve chain tension or when you coast down a trail?

12/3/2023 1:30am Its always a bit murky as some reviews don't mention the rattle and some people say their motor doesn't rattle while you can basically reproduce the rattle on the bosch and shimano motors by swinging the crank arm back and forth in small increments with your hand. How noticeable the rattle is depends on the kinematics and material/shape of the...

12/1/2023 8:23am Looks really good! Would be interesting to know the weight. It sucks that the ep8 rattles though.

11/21/2023 10:36am I said this in the other thread and will say it here. I have never purchased a bike thinking how much I will sell it for. My friend does that because he owns a bike shop and that is what he does to make a living. I buy based on want or need. I ride the crap out of it and it is worth what it is worth when (IF) I decide to sell it. My basement says I don't sell very many bikes, wife reminds me of this as well. Same goes for cars or my house. I need...

11/20/2023 3:26pm Yeah, in my opinion the upgrade to EP8 doesn't make that much sense if you like the characteristic of the e8000. Also the EP8 rattles more than the e8000. Depending on the frame you can have a pretty siltent bike with the e8000 but not so much with the EP8 or EP801. An upgrade thats well worth it would be...

11/20/2023 10:02am Current shimano motors have the same mount standard. Also mostly all other parts are compatible and there is the possibility of buying spare motors. But the downside is that servicing or repairing the motor is tricky as shimano doesn't offer any spare parts and when the torque sensor fails you can only salvage it for parts. With most other motors...

11/20/2023 1:06am Personally I bought a shimano ebike in 2019 with over 30% discount for 3350€ and converted it into a mullet. If motor or battery fails I can buy e8000 or upgrade to ep800/801 and even but a bigger capacity BT-E8016 battery for a few hundred euros. I think a new motor costs between 700 and 800 €. BT-8010 batteries start...

10/6/2023 6:21am While the racing has been amazing, the coverage has not been better. The coverage has been worse. More cameras does not necessarily mean better coverage--the drones are not a positive addition, and camera placement and operation has been less optimized than those heady RedBull days--and the commentary contributes less information and narrative to the event. It's a downgrade, and we're supposed to pay for it. I think what funktekk wrote above about the TdF makes a lot of sense. Perhaps mountain biking just got caught in the middle of a deal that has nothing to do with it... Disco/WillyBilly don't...
