These are totally different tires than the old black/white ones so order correct ones.

No I tend to not delve too much outside of Maxxis because of all the tire jargon you need to learn. That rear tire does look really good for rolling while still being an actual mountainbike tire, I do really like that I might go for it. I was going to order from bike-discount anyway.

Michelin Wild Enduro MH Racing TLR 29" Folding Tyre | bike-components Michelin Wild Enduro Rear Racing TLR 29" Tire | bike-components Have you thought about these? I'm huge fan of that rear tire, really fast, lacks in braking but decent cornering too, from the front specific ones I've only used the MS one. Can't find these in Finland, so you'll need to order.

The old tires aren't suddenly unrideable. I ride the old casings in the back because I don't need/want that much grip there. I also think the rolling resistance is lower but I'm not sure if that is true. Its just that the radials are extremely loud on asphalt.

Radials are not discounted it's only the normal bias tires. 20-30€ per tire. From what I've gathered for my purposes the radials have more downsides than up. I was thinking about it as small bump compliance and grip would be interesting but if the rolling resistance is worse then it's not going to be a faster tire for me. Tacky...

Johnny Watts isn't really meant for mountain biking, so stay away from that. For the regular tires, I would go Mary on the front, tacky/betty on the rear, either in trail front, gravity rear or both gravity. Ultrasoft front and soft rear. Hans dampf in rear is an option too for a fast rolling tire, but personally not a fan, because rolling resistance is the only thing that it offers.

Don't save money by buying cheap tires. Schwalbe will be phasing out all their old tire (casings) over time. Go with Radial gravity casing if you're normally on Maxxis DD and DH.

I don't find the Mary and Assegai to be similar tires. Mary is far better in the soft/loose but squirmy on hardpack corners or off-camber rock. Assegai is the opposite - good when it's dry or firm but lacks bite when it's really soft and it clogs up. For mixed conditions Schwalbe tire I prefer the Tacky Chan, but it has strong cornering bite which is pretty different from the Assegai and not everyone will like it. If you want fast-ish rolling rear, the Nobby Nic is excellent, I just wish I could get it in Super Gravity for riding...

We did run pressures too low and thus didn't get great sidewall support. However, the last thing I was going to do was add more pressure when the Albert was sliding all over the place in our dry conditions. As I mentioned above, when I tested more back home with higher pressures, lateral support improved, but so did tire rebound, reducing tire damping. More pressure solved one issue and introduced another with the Albert Gravity. There are many other tires I can run at my usual pressure range and achieve support, rim protection, and good ground feel (damping).

really? i always felt that the latest super gravity is very stiff and has a damp feeling compared to double down, Michelin enduro chasing, Conti enduro which are more soft and supple both by touch and on the trail i could always run 2psi less in the back compared to all the other chasing mentioned, always as a rear. tried all pressures on all these but settled on 24psi with the super gravity ( both Hans and Mary ) and 26 on all others as anything below that i was hitting the rim on rocks.

honestly i believe that the Super Trail is something in between Exo+ and DD to name a famous chasing, i can run mine up front at 18psi everywhere, even in super rocky and dry Italian dolomites or West Slovenia were there's plenty of super sharp pointy rocks with no issues at 82kg, not the fastest or hardest rider but i have a preference for nasty lines

I'm thinking of switching to Schwalbe from Maxxiss Assegais as I can halve the tire budget as Schwalbes are super cheap in winter discounts. Been running Assegais in front for years and they are great having grip everywhere. I wouldn't really want to compromise on that so I'm wondering if Magic Mary is a corresponding tire in terms of that...
