Bringing DH to the masses? The masses can kiss our asses. DH doesn't need or belong in the Olympics. Neither does XC,BMX and a lot of other sports,specially soccer. KTM? Give me a break,they never had a proper dowhill bike! The KTM bicycle brand is XC-oriented and just pays the motorcycle KTM brand to use the name,they're not the same company. I guess many people don't realise that.

Great writing and well put opinions here. But I'm somewhat shocked nobody here raised the body armour question. Wouldn't a simple back protector had prevented this life-changing injury? Back in the day Bender was doing those crazy jumps nobody else dare to try and crashed an awful lot. He wore 2 motocross chest and back protectors,one over the other. I'm prety sure that's what kept him alive.
