Bias is pretty evident from the furst paragraph. Nothing but an outdated confirmatiin bias piece. Who knows "they dont belong"? All the eebers i know are ex dhers and freeriders(some current) One thing i did learn, actually just further confirming a fact, jcl is a triggered moran. Even if i didnt know he was lame on a bike everyone i know that rides an eeb would get tired of waiting fir him pretty quick, up or down. Literally everyone of them on the down and most on the up, on whatever bike

Disagree with the stance of this article from an opinion basis, but there is also numerous incorrect pieces of info, I also do not appreciate Vital's choice of image for the lead (Racer guy hammering, and some dude bobbling on a roach emtb with no helmet, no proper attire, etc....that misleads the reader that all people on an eMTB are this guy). It is not a different sport and its as much as a different tool as a hardtail XC bike is to a 160mm trail bike. You are a test rider, and all you came away with is "heavy...

I am 78 this year and after 13 surgeries from a climbing incident now have a blue permanent hang tag for the rear view mirror. I can still do almost everything I formerly did but am restricted to the length of time and distance and exertion it takes to do it. I have been avid at MTB since Gary Fisher days. Now I use a CLASS-ONE eMTB to be able to continue enjoying my outdoor life like I did for many years before. In many ways it has saved my life. I am not at all ashamed of owning and...

To me this your piece was about reclassifying ebikes as a different sport, as read in the title. On that we don’t agree at all. A bicycle with a tiny motor is still a bicycle in my opinion. To me your piece feels more like a skier back in the day not likening snowboards on the mountain, and advocating for keeping the mountains for skiers only. I’m not just an ebike fan boy, and I definitely would like to see more trails or groups teach trail etiquette, especially for ebikes, but that wasn’t in this thread. Im also all for...

You presuppose that the only fitness activity on the planet is MTB.. and that the only fitness activity ALL Ebikers do is Ebike..and, that it is impossible to create fitness or "earn your turns" thru Ebiking-NewsFlash!-You can make most activities difficult. I'm just as tired Ebiking as I've been on a mechanical/traditional mtbike. I've been lucky (Aunt and Uncle both passed from cancer) enough to have been healthy and fit my entire life. I've done many different things to stay fit over the years-the gym, martial arts, parkour, climbing, etc...And YES, every year I get into good climbing shape until...

I've been mountain biking for quite awhile now (1988). I've owned many different bikes over the years, DH, Freeride, Enduro, trai, etc. I recently bought an Ebike and I will never go back to a mechanical/traditional mtb. I've found climbing to actually be creative and FUN now!-having the ability to pop off of everything on the way up is amazing. Other than occasionally enjoying a random, easy-ish climb when your mind wanders and blends with the meandering undulations of the climb, Climbing SUCKS! (for me at least) Ebikes have turned this SUCKS into FUN!. Additionally, I've found descending, jumping etc...

So the BACK COUNTRY HORSEMEN OF AMERICA are suing the UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE for allow eMTB class-1 on 132 miles of non-motorized trails. One of their key points is safety do to speed of a eMTB (Max 20mph), shit a horse with a human on it's back can reach speeds of 40mph, just another joke of a lawsuit.

And here I thought most of the e-MTB haters were on Pinkbike... Aside from whatever laws are in place in certain locations, I don't get why so many people have the need to try to dictate what can be ridden on a mountain, what makes you "part of mainstream culture" or what-not. Does it really bother you so much that someone else is enjoying riding they way they want to enjoy it? Some people use the "you should earn the ride by climbing" argument, some people use the "if it has a motor it's a moped" argument, some people use...

Seems to me that the whole thing will always be debated, and that's the end of the story. There will ever be consensus, and that's fine. Just because there are cranks, some people will believe ebikes are mountian bikes. Some people, on the other hand, believe any addition of power will make it a motorcycle. Do there have to be pegs for people to really believe they are different? Of course they are different. But I think the focus should be on the purpose. The author seems to rather sit on a thumb tack and climb for hours than rocket...

Some big updates today, October 22. First, the BLM published a news post and updated the e-bike section of their website. Class I, II, and III e-bikes have taken another step toward BLM trail access. New rules and regulations are to be established and not all BLM trails will have access. Before you run out the door to buy an e-bike, be sure to read this important update and check with your local Bureau of Land Management office about which trails apply. The news post reads: [i]BLM FACILITATES RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ON PUBLIC LANDS FOR ELECTRIC BIKES Secretary’s Order 3376 encourages...

First off the article was about the EWS starting up a new racing class for eMTB, somehow we got off on trail access. So now that we are on to trail access, wouldn't it be better for MTBs to embrace eMTBs this would increase the number of supporters for trail access for all MTBs and eMTB. The only way we will beat the Sierra Club and other advocacy groups is to increase the numbers in the MTB & eMTB community to fight for trail access.

I know it hard for some people to except a new sport, but eMTB is completely different then MTB. I own a MTB, eMTB and street fighter motorcycle and enjoy riding all of then, but they are all different forms of 2-wheel riding. Trail access is a issue today in the USA, but that will change over time. I think your comment about riding etiquette is a good one, but I have seen a lot of 20, 30, 40 year old guys on MTBs that don't give a damm on who is coming uphill when they are plowing downhill, can...
