dirtworks911 Liked a reply to forum topic Is the 29 / 27.5 combo (97.5) bike here to stay?
3/24/2019 5:44am The real question is do you throw a 29" front wheel on a 27.5" frame or a 27.5" rear wheel on a 29" frame? Both have pros and cons.

Masjo Added a reply to 2019 Racing Rumors
3/18/2019 10:20am Maybe it will be similar to the 'Lyrik Ultimate' which sounds like an updated damper but similar/same chassis. I'm hoping they make it into production as I've been debating on getting a new fork and that Pike would look amazing on my matte silver/matte black frame

3/12/2019 1:47pm They tested positive for a 'specified substance', which means that they are allowed to race until a decision is made. It's the same situation that Chris Froome was in last year. https://www.wada-ama.org/en/questions-answers/prohibited-list-qa#item-3…
Masjo Added a reply to 2019 UCI World Cup Downhill Tech
3/7/2019 5:56am Dropper posts were used back when Pietermaritzburg was on the circuit: https://www.pinkbike.com/news/world-cup-downhill-bike-pietermaritzburg-… I don't think SRAM AXS would provide a racing benefit other than ease of use, the pro roadies have been using eTap and Di2 without the UCI encroaching on that. As for Fox's Live Valve, I'm not as sure. I'm sure we'll see some integration from SRAM/Rockshox soon...
Masjo Added a reply to Is Trek hinting at a natural fiber construction? (EDIT: Nope, it's WaveCel helmet technology)
3/3/2019 7:42pm For reference to using graphene as a frame material, I was thinking more along the lines of what Vittoria are doing with their tires or what this company is doing with bikes. Video from GCN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaKl3OymFy4 From what I gather, it's more of an additive to existing carbon fibre that increases strength-to-weight ratios. To me, this would be an easy...
Masjo Added a reply to Is Trek hinting at a natural fiber construction? (EDIT: Nope, it's WaveCel helmet technology)
3/3/2019 4:56am My engineering friends seem to think this looks like kevlar, though my first instinct was to say graphene as that is being touted as the next 'wonder-material'. I have no idea if that is what graphene looks like, but it would in theory allow a company like Trek to keep all of their carbon molds and knowledge gained over the...
Masjo Added a reply to The Internet Was Wrong: Short Chainstays Suck*
2/9/2019 7:31am I would think that crank arm length would change your 'neutral zone' to a point, but I don't know if there would be a hugely significant difference between 2 cm of feet positioning. As a rough approximation, you could try standing with your feet at 35cm apart and see how much force (push) you could resist, and then do it...

11/29/2018 5:28am I believe this was in reference to the supplement industry in the EU vs North America/Australia. In NA, supplements are basically unregulated by our government departments of Health/drug and Food. Health Canada straight up says on their website that 'Natural Health Products' are unregulated - i.e. you can put whatever you want in their (and also claim almost anything you...
Masjo Added a reply to Enduro Full Face Helmets
11/21/2018 1:43pm I am a similar situation as you (minus the number of concussions... probably) and I am also having second/third/fourth thoughts about the different helmets. One thing that I think is key in the Fox and Bell helmets is the multiple foam densities being used, as I think that will really help with those small impacts. As much as we wear...
Masjo Added a reply to Unicorn Bike: Write your frame spec that doesn't exist (yet)
8/28/2018 7:52am I would like to propose an addition to the title of this thread: If you know of a bike that is similar, let us know! Living in the northeast, I've always been excited for a true 'east coast mountain' bike. Since we don't have actual mountains (more like rolling hills), that would be something like: Wheel size: take your pick...

8/14/2018 10:49am Do we have a list going of athletes whose contracts are up for the season? I can't keep track of them all, but here's some I believe are correct with much help from previous posts: Aaron Gwin / YT MOB Loris Vergier Finn Iles / Specialized Gravity Team Athertons / Trek Factory DH Brosnan's been with Canyon for a bit...
Masjo Added a comment about press release Polygon Bikes Releases The New XQUARONE DH Series
8/8/2018 6:57am I know these bikes are supposed to be 'pedal-able', but an 11-42 cassette on a DH bike seems a little overkill!

Masjo Added a reply to Buying my first real mtb - 2018 Haro Shift Plus or 2017 Trek Fuel EX 8
6/13/2018 6:13am To me, this is no contest - for sure get the Trek Fuel EX 8. I have a 2018 model and enjoy it, and there's nothing I really feel a need to upgrade. I do work at a store that carries Trek, but looking at the websites for both models I really think the Trek is a better buy for...
Masjo Added a comment about video Propain's New 29er Rallied by Phil Atwill

Bike looks rad and has an interesting shock layout, but why is Phil on an NX rear derailleur? And what's hanging off his bar on the right side?

Masjo Added a reply to Thoughts on XC tires
4/15/2018 9:24pm I never raced XC, but I did own a set of Maxxis Beavers for a while in 29x2.0 on an old hardtail. To me, they performed quite well in the mud we have here (clay base, so very slick when wet) but they had quite a thin sidewall and I ended up tearing one on a ride. It would probably...

Masjo Added a reply to pro 5010 bikes
3/16/2018 9:04am Josh Lewis posted on his Instagram a while back that his 'jibbing machine' / 'jibmobile' is a size small aluminum 5010. I do not know what size bike he normally rides, but I believe that is smaller than his enduro bike. Link because I don't know how to embed photos from Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ3vxJshkZo/?taken-by=loosedoglewis
