I know that Downcountry and short travel slack bikes are all the rage these days but let me add my point of view. I've ridden a few of these bikes and they are indeed a lot of fun and feeling light and spirited on climbs is great. I just ran into problems when pointing them downhill. They give you all the confidence and if you forget that you actually don't have that much travel nor proper burly components, the bike gets hammered really fast. That doesn't match my experience at all. In terms of sizing/fit, it runs the same as all my other Fox stuff from the past 2/3 years, including shorts and pants of all sorts. The pockets are not huge but they EASILY hold my iPhone X, on top of that I personally think the pocket is in the perfect place - out of harm's way as much as possible, and in the right spot to not interfere with pedaling/moving around on the bike. RE iceman2058: I have iPhone 11 in a case and it is really uncomfortably tight fit. I saw this tight squeeze comment in some other review, it was of FOX waterproof trousers I think - they stated that the phone needs to be held while zipping up the pocket and it will fall out as soon as you open it. My point was that they changed the design significantly and IMO it was for the worse. But 1000 ppl, 1000 tastes..

I bought new Defend shorts this summer after my old ones wore out. I must say that I am not at all impressed by the changes. The fit is way slimmer, the pockets are stupidly shaped and way too small to fit iPhone, it is very uncomfortable riding with it in the pocket and also the large side pocket is gone. I ordered them from god knows where as they were really hard to come by in the color and size I wanted and I was really badly surprised. I am hardly taking them when I am going riding which...

That is not really comparable as Dangerholm's bikes are completely custom. There is hardly any part that you can go and buy off the shelf. Everything is either manufactured as one-off, homebrew or highly customized - paint stripped etc.. It's like comparing nicely specced and tuned M3 to a kit car.

"I guarantee I can make the shock feel less deep and more harsh by stuffing it full of reducers." I think everybody can screw up their suspension by twisting knobs, that's not a rocket engineering. :D

I am over 200lbs and what you described with the fork is exactly what I have been experiencing with FOX every time I test rode a bike with it or had it installed on a new bike. I have to say that I just demoed for a month the 2021 FOX 36 Rhythm with basic Grip damper and so far I was quite impressed. Gone are those "diving vs not comfortable" problems. https://www.ridefox.com/dl/bike/transfer-internal-specifications.pdf Exposed part is 238.9mm, drop is 200mm. That means Collar + Clamp(to rails) is 38.9mm. Too bad I can insert only 250mm in my frame and the seatpost is over 530mm in length, the lowest possible will be still way too high for me..
Those extra 25mm of drop make the seatpost longer by more than 55mm. :/

Yeah I've seen some frames even with a warning sticker that "colours may fade". I remember it on some fluorescent yellow GTs. Though I never had any of my personal bikes fade, depends on the quality of the clearcoat I guess.
