I think that's the issue. It's not so much the design of the bike, but the use case and rider preferences. A mix of industry push and "dude, trust me you need this" peer pressure got us all on 29ers. Smoother is faster and faster is fun right? Well, that really depends on the rider. If smoother and faster was always more fun, there wouldn't be the hardcore hardtail crowd. Sure, if you are building a bike for a specific purpose, like dual Slalom or dirt jumping, then a specific wheel size would be more appropriate. But since 85% of...

I know some legitimately fast enduro racers from Huntsville area (Dirt Camp Racing is based out of there), and they all ride Monte Sano and rave about it as well.

Bluff Line (high-speed tech) and McKay Hollow (basically a European EDR stage) are both awesome trails. If I remember correctly, Bankhead is a purpose-built flow trail that’s fun. Overall, if it’s black or double-black and has vert, it’s probably some very fun tech.

Hey all, I recently moved to Huntsville, Alabama and have yet to find any trails that are well and proper downward pointing bike trails in the area around the city. Everything I have tried is some form of land trust trail that feels like it has hiking as its first priority: No flow, and awkward-for-bikes trail features. I have seen...

Generalizing everyone that has ridden an eMTB "E-MTBers act like they the exception to the rules"....is bullshit. As I say in every trail meeting i've been to when this is brought up, we have always had 'an asshole' problem, it existed before electrics. This problem exists in skate, snow, surf, tennis, golf, etc.....not everyone is a cool law abiding person. So theres that. Oh, and your analogy about the bikes being heavier causing more damage-is funny. So-I am 140lbs, am I supposed to call anyone 160lbs and up a 'trail terrorizer'? Your last comment about EMTBers being rich, not working...

Joe Vadeboncoeur was with Trek Bicycles for 30 years and worked in many capacities there, including the development and growth of e-bikes. Joe has an advantaged insight into e-bikes and, more relevant to our community, eMTB. Having been at the vanguard of eMTB, he is privy to their development, growth, and industry impact. Now, as the head of his local trails organization, he has the perspective of an individual that works with land managers and trail users. It is tough to think of another person with such a two-sided view on this topic. It very much *feels* like eMTB has...

The big question, so in the end, what's the reason why other carbon rim manufacturers charge $3,000? A sticker that says ENVE costs $2,200 to produce?

I'm going to look at this from both sides of the coin, I cringe whenever I hear someone say something like, "I went to do Enduro this morning.." It just sounds overblown, like the person is trying to prove their training and racing prowess to me.. I feel like saying, "Mm no, you rode your bike for a few hours...
