How do people ride DH bikes with 40mm longer wheel bases than this? Give it a real head angle Specialized.

I guess it depends on your preference but to me it's obvious that short chainstays will give you low front grip on flatter turns as you can't easily weight the front and more rearward weight distribution causes the bike to chopper out so to speak. Also the weight distribution requires more rear spring rate to cope with having more rear weight bias which causes front to rear imbalance. Again the best handling Specialized I've ridden is the Stumpy Evo 29" and I'm convinced the main reason the chainstays are 30mm longer than the 26" Evo. EDIT: I can't seem to...

I disagree. I haven't seen the geometry for the Trek's but they look okay (minus the DVRC of course). The Enduro 29" is an odd bike geometry wise IMO, a 29" apologists bike to please the 26" riders. 155mm and only half a degree slacker than the 135mm Evo 29"? And who wants such short chainstays with such a long front centre? The 25mm longer stays on the Stumpy feel perfect to me. Who knows, maybe that's why Curtis chose to ride the Stumpy and not the Enduro at Punta Ala?

What does Whiteley expect at this point? For Gwin to come running back with open arms? Obviously he was looking for a change of scenery because the money had to be pretty good at Trek. Even if legal action were to bring him back to TWR, there's no way he could perform at his best with that much tension surrounding the team. Trek had their run, now its Speshis turn. Maybe he'll get them to finally lengthen that chainstay so Troy will stop washing out and breaking himself.

came in too hot off the drop, nose cased the landing. in an attempt to prevent being bucked, he hangs off the back. front looses traction and no doubt with some help from the odd root, and cheers for directionality. just saying it's a proto means jack, because proto in this sense means it's race ready through and through. it doesnt mean it come fresh off the engineers pencil. Please ppl. context. Proto means not for sale yet. Besides, he ran these suckers endlessly in practice. Both brakes at exactly the same time? hmm, right.
