Intradrive Gearbox Powertrain Tucked away in a tiny little booth on a side row was Intradrive. Turns out they're a small Scottish company that's been developing an 8-speed gearbox-equipped motor for eMTB brands dubbed the GD8. Shifting is wireless electronic, there's a 480% range, and the motor can output up to 700w. The founder said that the motors are built and wound in Scotland and that vast majority of the parts and materials are sourced from Europe if not made in-house. Interesting the reviewer felt the plastics were "silly" and doubled down on only a 5-year old thought they were "cool". This especially when OEM's put rubber bumpers of all kinds all over their bikes which are, for the most part, not easily replaceable. The plastic pieces can be replaced/re-freshened in seconds w/o surface prep, residue removal, etc. And they add a degree of impact protection that no clear stick-on protector kit can. My problem with OChain is that its not expensive enough. It needs an electronic lockout that connects to my ANT+ power meter to know when I'm pedalling and when I'm coasting. Or maybe a built in accelerometer so it knows if I'm pointed uphill or downhill. Whatever makes it more expensive.

The NZL Selection Criteria is pretty straight forward. Be in the top 25% of last years worlds (only Tuhoto made this mark) then they fill the remaining spots (6) with the highest ranked riders with points gained from UCI event results up to & including Andorra. All very fair & black & white. Unfortunately Wyn did his best results after the selection cut off (USA & CAD) once the selection had already be advised to riders. But Wyn has mentioned that the UCI gives out too many UCI point for Oceania and Natioanls. This is where riders ahead of him...
