You can - depends on your desire to order small parts and do disassembly and reassembly. The kits will become available and the tech can be applied. You can look up parts kits on the tech page, though MY27 won't appear for another few weeks: tech.ridefox.com
Correct, though as of last year Float X2 is no longer twin tube and has moved to a mono-tube design. We kept the X2 designations to help the majority of riders understand what product relates to what category and what adjustments they can expect on the product.
The new air shaft and dampers are backwards compatible for 40 - a new air spring/damper will take some different setup guidance than on the new fork due to air volume changes with the new chassis so "suggested settings" may not apply. If you are ever confused by what Model Year your product is you can look it up the...

I honestly appreciate the fact that we are working our way away from model year names, or re-branding of products for slight updates and tweaks. Those that want to latest and greatest or want to validate what off the shelf product they are buying can work with their IBD to validate the serial numbers or they can do that themselves. Disclaimer, I know just enough about suspension design to be dangerous... While we're on the subject, The updates to the grip x2 damper are interesting. From looking at the cut away's and press release info, it seems mostly focused on...

Thanks for the explanation. In a different use case--e.g. XC/marathon--could there be more to gain from a system that firms up the fork?

Good question! FLOAT X and DHX Live Valve Neo shocks were designed for the application of Trail and All-Mountain riding, where transitions are extremely quick, and in some cases quite jarring. The overwhelming majority of on-trail efficiency which can be achieved from firm suspension is attributable to the rear shock, and any delay in the Opening of a fork’s compression circuit— even 1/70th of a second—would be noticeable to riders. The insignificant gains in speed efficiency offered by a firm fork are not worth the sacrifice in on-trail performance for the Trail and All-Mountain disciplines.

The coverage itself, aside from the lead commentators brain numbing commentary, has been fantastic in 2024. Things that must change though: Scrap semis, or at the very least, stream it live for free on YT. Allow top 60 to compete in finals, highlights package for 30-60 riders before full live coverage of the final 30. Increase the women's field to 20 riders and broadcast them all.
