Removing the chain improves the suspension performance, especially low speed compression (chainstay lengthening) which is not held up by chain growth, so the bike tracks better, That's what feels so good and why you go faster than you think you should. "Kickback" might be better termed "drivetrain interference to the suspension mechanism." Rattly chains and foot feel are largely non-sequiturs in the physics of drivetrain suspension interaction.

More than the feel in your feet from chain growth unbalancing you, that kickback is indicative of a restriction on the free movement of the suspension system. Therefore, the bike doesn't track as well, especially on low speed compressions.

1/28/2025 5:26pm I believe that the EXT VAIA has many of the benefits of the Dorado, plus a sliding bushing, dual positive air (coilish and adjustable), offset adjustable, axle adjustable and lots of Ti hardware.

1/26/2025 4:54pm I think the point is: it's hard to tell much difference on a short section of blue flow trail. Imagine testing two skis with different flex patterns over a short section of a blue run. There's not enough information and it is of low applicability for the conditions where the variables matter.
