Bru, that Daprela boy already has a mentor and a godfather and his name is Vouilloz, Nicolas Vouilloz. First year junior already smokin' fast. That young cunt holds the fastest time on the Peille's DH Track. Fair to say he could be one if not the best prospect for the YT mob. Quite a few friends living near Daprela warned...

True forgot about that. However, comparing XO1 in pricing to XT there is a huge gap. XT vs. X0 performance gap is not as far as the $$ leads us to believe. Full disclosure, I ride X01 and love it. However, Shimano not releasing everything all at once and folks saying 'they are so far behind' is laugable. Shimano does things right before they release it in most of their designs. They are a conservative company, but their shit works. When XT gets the 12-speed treatment next year, it will be rock solid. As the article mentions, their focus is...

It has some similarities with King yes, but to say it stolen is a bit of an overreaction. Its actually far closer to the DT Swiss star ratchet... who worked with shimano on the freehub. Owning and working on both the DT Swiss and King hubs, I'd much rather run the Swiss system than King's. Apart for the ratchet upgrade my DT Swiss hubs have been maintenance free for almost a year now, whereas my King hubs are sitting on the shelf and I still have to give them TLC

The DT Swiss ratchet system is by far the best system on the market when it comes to reliability. We sell loads of Enves to our road customers, and the DT Swiss equipped pairs are maintenance free, where as the King's pairs it sometimes is a nightmare!

Hard to accept the price tag of the Enduro brakeset vs some others on the block. The new Hayes, Hope, Magura etc. And the weight is marginally lighter when compared 4 piston to 4 piston. I'll leave out Guides as they are terrible! And it sure seems the actual piston/lever design is the same, just a band clamp redesign. We consistently have to warranty the levers from leaking plungers, no other brake fails in this manner. And the King stolen ring drive...hopefully that won't be a maintenance nite-mare like the Kings! It all looks cool thou!

You're welcome . Fixing and building crazy expensive road bikes for racers and dentists is what pay me bills, so I guess I know those electronic drivetrains well enough. And if I wasn't sold when it first came out in 2009, I am now! Plus di2 is the only solution for people with some hand related disability. You should have seen the face of the first vet I helped with di2. You will always find people saying that they are perfectly happy with their etap on their bikes. That could be true. But most some of them can't tell the...

Let me explain why I'm not sold on etap. Yes it's wireless and it makes a time trial or triathlon built easier but ... E-tap in its current wireless form has an horrendous input lag. It doesn't shift as fast as a gear actuated drivetrain. Fly-by-wire drivetrains such as di2 or eps shift way faster than any e-tap. And you have the freedom to tune di2 the way you want : *Switch mapping *Shifting speed, *Semi-automatic burst or automatic jump when you hold the trigger *fine gear tuning per cog *you can mis-match di2 components to your like. A current...

So Clementz is using the enduro version of the etap rear mech. Sorry but I don't get the hype surrounding etap. The pros in road racing don't like it at all. I wrench for a Continental Pro team so I know what I'm talking about. In terms of shifting performance, etap is far far behind Campagnolo EPS or Shimano di2.

The RT-99 Rotors -aka the Saint/XTR discs- are centrelock only and Chris King doesn't make Centrelock hubs for mountain bikes. Though, they have centrelock option for their R45 road hubs because it's now industry standard on road bikes. Here is why I guess the syndicate doesn't use RT-99 rotors. Although they are better discs from my workshop and race mechanic experience they are bit useless in DH racing in my humble opinion. Pros brake real hard for short period of time. A Joe like me and you we brake more for longer periods of time. That's where the RT-99 are...

Mop, Loris uses a mixmatch brake set. XTR trail levers and Saint Calipers. It helps to save some weight -lol- but it also enhances modulation. A full Saint setup is more on off. And if it still is too on/off for you with the XTR Trail levers you can go with a XTR race levers. The race lever doesn't use the servowave like the trail.
