ChampionP Added a comment about video Kelly McGarry Crashes Hard in China

My blood was boiling that the three people in blue coats who just stood there like nothing happened. Even if I don't know the person or can't offer any real help, I'm going to rush over and ask if they are ok, tell them they are going to be OK, help is on the way, etc. These guys were so cold it was unsettling.

I thought he bashed his twig-n-berries on his seat and then his top tube on the 2nd bounce. I rewinded it and saw him dismount as though he wanted that bike away from his nuts. After that he just walks down the slope until he has a place to just collapse and try to deal with the pain. It definitely could be the wrist too, but if you slip your pedals and land with your butt on your seat, your weight is usually on the back of the bike. EDIT: I rewatched it using pause to get a good look...

4/15/2015 2:42pm Perhaps they just like welds because they know how to do them well. Or they just have fun welding them up. It looks like there is some hydroforming and machining as well as some welding. I'm not personally in the market for a DH bike but I actually like the industrial looking frames as much as the sculpted look of most carbon frames, too (I ride a ripley 29 and Enduro AL 26). I appreciate the aesthetics of both bikes equally. Unless this frame comes in at a much lower price than lighter carbon frames I don't think they will...

ChampionP Added a comment about video ONE LAP - Enduro World Series Rotorua Stage 7 with Iago Garay

It's so hard to watch POV when the rider chooses a different turn than my own instincts!! I like to visualize myself riding the trail, then it feels like my head is separating from my body and the bike. In my mind I keep holding onto the bars. Such a strange feeling! Kind of like when I flinch after watching skaters bash their nuts on handrails. He handled the slow tech stuff much different than me (easy to say viewing from behind a laptop), but I was jealous of the way he was killing it on the high speed sections.

ChampionP Added a comment about slideshow THE JARED GRAVES INTERVIEW
3/14/2015 3:51am
I'd like to congratulate the interviewer and interviewee. I'm always disappointed with interviews that are list of predetermined questions sent in the email and one question has nothing to do with the questions and answers that preceded. It's more like a podcast in the way that it has a conversational feel and a sense that we are getting to know Jared a little bit and the interview flows more like a natural conversation. Kudos! and cool beans!

I've had a 2010 enduro for 5 years(just bought a new 29 ibis this January), which is the year they changed to the x-wing design, and I have had many rock strikes to the downtube and never once has a cable suffered any damage besides a couple of dull looking scratch marks. I have to roll my eyes and chuckle every time a tester brings this up as a "major" concern or design flaw. Same with the Command Post. Also there is a trend amongst testers to complain about bar width and stem length on almost every bike, specifically when...

3/9/2015 12:27am Riverdale is not far from my house. Hopefully they make the pump track british style so that it's never muddy or eroded. I'd also like it if they put some anti mud/erosion efforts into the nearby single track, so we can ride single track during the winter months.

I have two command posts and always have to chuckle when reviewers are scared of the rebound. I've never racked myself once, but I learned how to use the post and it's three heights (like CTD I guess). I can't imagine trying to use infinitely adjustable height posts now. I guess it would take some getting used to.

ChampionP Added a reply to Do you ride with a pack?
1/9/2015 5:14am I carried a pack within one year of owning my first mountain bike. It was the camelback mule. I didn't like the way the bike handled with the weight of two 20 oz bottles inside the front triangle and a pump, and a tube, and some tools, and some food, and some...... I always felt better having some backup with...

ChampionP Added a comment about video Aaron Gwin's GoPro Run from Plattekill ProGRT
6/6/2014 5:34pm
I'd love it if GoPro would fix the rattling sound of their cases and mounts, too. It distracts from how damn fast he's going. I was flinching a few times when he sped through the tight spots between trees!

ChampionP Added a comment about product review M Series 70 Thirty
6/4/2014 10:10pm I used to work there. First thing I did after leaving was take those gawdy stickers off. My bike looks so much better now that it's not a billboard. I had to shake my head all year as they were prototyping rims and none of them were increasing in width. With the strength to weight ratio of Enve rims, there's no good reason to have skinny rims, except certain people there have an irrational fear of change and are overly conservative. Regardless of price, they sell more and more every year. And, once you have a set of these wheels...
