Now we’re onto something!! Id have a hard time buying a high pivot with all the complexity and still have a hang-down derailleur. This is next level!

i'd rather it come from an engineer and need some smoothing out from marketing, than it come from marketing and need some engineering. full disclosure: I am an engineer.

When I make this bike in Linkage the AS values range (^_^) from -30% on the smallest cog to 120% on the biggest one. Basically if I do it right there's no AS on the lowest gears. Is that ok ? No need for AS at all on those gears ? KB consequently goes quite in the negative -4.5° on the smallest cog. Isn't that a problem either ?

Exquisite welds and craftsmanship! Extremely well done!

I’m sure BAe and RR could turn half a million hubs if they asked... Ps just make everything in black for 6 months or stop the slow colours and use the tanks for more black parts.

What is the operation taking place in the last picture? It almost looks like pedal threads being cut from the back side of a crank, but that doesn't quite make sense since the tool doesn't seem to go all the way through and is being left in the threads for the next step?

Here's a tool that I'm building for helping folks find locally made bike brands. I still have a lot of work to do for filling it out, but I'm posting it before it's done in the hopes of getting feedback about the user interface. What do yall think of it? Please read the instructions before trying to use the filters...

Wow, this thread is up my alley. I've been running the Instagram account called North American Bike Project for the past few months: https://www.instagram.com/north.american.bike.project/ I started this Instagram account several months after the European Bike Project guy started his account, and he helped me get going. We talk and send things to each other regularly. Some of the info that...

cedrico Added a comment about feature SILENT, INSTANT - New BOX Stealth Hubs

In case anyone's wondering: from a bit of googling, I9 Hydras are around 270g and Onyx Vespers are around 380g. This article says that these new Box hubs are 475g. To me, Onyx Vespers are a great compromise over I9s for the quiet, smooth, low drag coasting. The Box hubs are a bit porky and the compromise may be a tougher sell.

Main reason I'll stick to my Onyx. Plus everyone working there are super nice people, I'd much rather support them, especially with current situations. I like the idea of not having that rubbery feel, but not enough to buy the box hub instead. I feel like it probably helps with pedal feedback also, I've never felt any super harsh yanks on the pedals with any of my onyx hubs.

I would be really interested to see a test comparing the drag on these hubs compared to the Onyx. Also it should be noted that the Onyx Vesper hub has a claimed weight of 389g which would make the Box is about 22% heavier. Another thing I wanted to point out is about the "sponginess" that you talked about. Many, myself included, see this as more of a feature than a fault. I really like the soft initial feel of the hub. It makes other hubs feel a bit harsh or clunky by comparison now. If that makes sense. If...

Same here. What a shame. They were already making the hubs in the US. They could've invested into automation to bring the cost down in the US.

Was excited to see the instant engagement title, but my heart sank as I read that Box Components farmed the production out to Taiwan.
