It is NOT timed practice, it is a SEEDING run. It is also NOT a 'qualifier', if you are at worlds, you are in. But this is different than timed practice, this is old school seeding where you can play the weather card and ride slow if you wanted to go EARLY, like the old days before...more

i think any serious WC racer could have attended this race if they chose to. we're hearing that the WC course will have some different sections than this iXS course. not sure how stats line up historically, but often we see riders at a venue well before a race and it's never a slam dunk that...more

Make it be like enduro/desert racing in moto. No previewing the course before racing. Requires more skill to be able to read terrain.

It's all mind-blowing, but that very last train with Brendog, Andreu, and Silva is just one for the history books. Looking back at what it has taken to get the sport to this level...the individual and collective progression of riding and building is beyond belief.

Added a comment about feature Prize Purse Strings: Drawn Too Tight? 2/25/2019 12:44 AM

Tracks are getting faster and more dangerous by the year and these guys and girls definitely deserve better salaries. That said, no one is living off prize money alone. It's a nice bonus but the real money is made in sponsorship and endorsement deals, which placing well in races provides access to.

Bike companies and major sponsors (RB etc) should be paying their athletes more. Listening to the Rennie podcast on here a few months back, it was disappointing to hear how little the Aussies were paid to ride in the early to mid 2000s. Perhaps if the pro riders were more transparent about their salaries (at least among themselves), then they could secure better deals.
