Brian_Peterson Added a reply to Modern Geo Talk: Chainstays, Stack, Reach, and Bitching About It
2/22/2026 9:25am I'm curious as to what would give more "flickable" feel? A smaller rear wheel or a shorter stay?

2/21/2026 6:00pm Basically, made a rig that showed how the longer rear needed more force to lift the front. Then also showed how the weight shifted between the wheels as the rear end length changes..

2/19/2026 4:57pm I can see some advantages of a short cage UDH derailleur on a DH bike.. A 90 mechanical version would be my choice..Electronic is nice but not needed. As for electronics on the suspension, I can't see a benefit to someone just doing park laps..

2/18/2026 8:53am Plus, making a dedicated fork for the lightweight electric motorcycles should be a good thing for them.. I seem to be seeing more 40s getting destroyed by those things...

2/16/2026 2:54pm I'll reply to your comment since I can't hit reply on the Push response... The video confirmed my idea that a bump up in LSC can give a more poppy feel.. I think as consumers, we're used to not having decent compression damping adjustment so we look to the spring to compensate..

2/16/2026 2:43pm When I was talking onshore, I was thinking about in the future.. Like 5+ years.. Especially given the 3 year product cycles we see for most models.. But, the reality is that it's a lot easier to send the work to Taiwan than it is to bring it back here.. Interesting bit on Ralpha.. I never had much experience with...

2/16/2026 2:28pm “Onshoring” and “No new investments” are kinda mutually exclusive, aren’t they? I work with a few people who have worked for Rapha in the last 7 years. That brand is super duper marketing heavy, in terms of where the money goes. It’s painful to think how the marketing investments over the last 7 years could have more than paid for building and buying the assets to cut stitch and sew clothing in closer to just-in-time and less seasonal/collection based model. About 10 years ago I consulted for a domestic stitch and sew outfit that was inporting italian thread and fabric...

2/16/2026 11:34am We've already seen more overseas production from Allied as they realized they couldn't match what was coming out of Taiwan.. Hopefully, they continue to develop their processes and onshore the bikes..

2/16/2026 11:30am I don't know if this should go here or in the ebike thread.. With Tippie now on Aventon, he teased a new trail bike coming... Another source is calling it a potential game changer...

2/16/2026 4:16am I suspect Push can get you the pop you are looking for, it might just take more than a spring rate adjustment.
