The wannabes or the people like me that don’t have time or money to test all kinds of different set ups to see exactly what performs best but still want the best preforming bike they can have.

I have to assume you're referring to the author, not the comments? If so, the comparison makes perfect sense. They are the 2 similarly priced complete builds from 1 brand and very differently speced. This really helps people wondering if they should buy and race one or the other straight out of the box, no mods.

Yo! I think the sizing worked well for me, I don't always take reach numbers the same and this bike seemed to comfortably fit me. Never felt like it was too small. I imagine I could go a little bigger, but I don't feel the need to. I've always enjoyed a slightly smaller bike as my riding style in dynamic and playful. The top of that track was a blast, don't get to send it straight down the mountain anywhere much anymore! Wish the drop and some other bits were included and didn't have go arounds, but overall I enjoyed...

Yeah, not my finest hour, that's racing! Appreciate the props and potential future projects, I'm always down to "send" it for the Vital viewers.

Glad you are stoked on it, enjoyed making it for you! Specialized certainly hasn't ruined anything here, it retains all of the high level ride characteristics that you enjoy while also still allowing you to monster truck to your heart's delight.

No doubt that is my go to tire setup as well, but I enjoyed really learning how to push the Butchers to the limit and honestly felt they met my needs.

Great idea and something worth exploring in future test videos. This comparison was created because Specialized currently offers both models.

Vital MTB's 2016 Bike of the Year went to the previous Pivot Switchblade. How do you improve on that? Give it a few years and some fresh ideas. With 142mm of rear travel and 160mm up front, this all-new 2020 version one-ups its predecessor pretty much across the board. Join Vital MTB's Product Editor, Brandon Turman, in the video above for a look at everything that's been updated and his in-depth ride impressions. Strengths Weaknesses Direct, snappy attitude at the cranks Excellent traction Custom shock tune improves support without hindering high-speed bump absorption Great manners on technical uphills Maintains speed...

Spectacular review as well as bike! I really appreciated how you have a well written detailed review to compliment the video feature #textisnotdead Not a bad backyard to inspire a bike build, those trails are no joke, if that shred sled can handle South Mountain I'd be confident to take it anywhere, up or down. Keep SENDING Turman!

(no idea about nina yet, addressing your first comment). i totally agree about racers vs influencers (and stik's comment). i'm SO curious how impactful influencers are if they're not at the pointy end of the influencer results. what's a social person with 10k or 50k insta followers worth? anything? a living wage? some product? what about a youtuber with 10k subscribers? 50k subscribers? just like w/ racing, the big influencers cost big money. how long will a racer-turned-youtuber last? (is that what lew buchanan is doing now?) is grinding out vlogs for product or nickels any different than going into...
