6/7/2025 2:56am I'm at Leogang this weekend and wanted to get a sense of how widely pedal kickback devices have been adopted by World Cuppers, along with all the other wild accessories like TMD's/shakeweights, electronics, gearboxes, and more. So out of curiosity and as a service to my fellow nerds, I stood at the top of Q1 today and counted all the devices I could. Note that certain devices were almost certainly undercounted, like shakeweights, added mass, and fancy chainring devices like Ochain or Rimpact (drivetrains were facing away from me in the starting lineup). There were 20 bikes total where I...

6/6/2025 3:02am I'm really excited for the XTR embargo to be over so I can get more miles in on the new not-a-clutch clutch mechanism on my primary bike. Very curious how it will affect suspension feel to have spring force instead of friction controlling the cage on my long travel bike with relatively high anti-squat.

6/2/2025 10:50am My money is on 4 18mm pistons. That's a tech 4 evo lever with a bleed port too.

5/29/2025 1:35pm I don't get it, people usually want to see shimano content.

5/28/2025 11:45pm What's funny is that they're actually using the official bleeding edge hose with it still. The EZMTB bleed kit is GOATed anyway, I'd definitely use it over the official kit lol

5/28/2025 11:29am XTR is one piece, lighter and presumably stiffer. XT is bolted together.

5/28/2025 4:30am It's not quite an E4 I think it might be 14mm pistons, but don't quote me. But NicoZesty is right, they do a caliper that's compatible with GRX or other mineral oil levers, there was a bike of the day posted a while back that was a custom Cnc'd frame, and that had a hopemano brake set on it.

5/27/2025 8:12am I believe the pinkbike reviewer said he was pleasantly surprised by how well it pedalled despite the numbers, and that it didn't necessarily need the electronics on the shock to work. I'm sure a regular pedal/climb switch would deal with it rather well.

5/27/2025 5:51am With the new x2 and EXT shocks changing shape, is it time to start discussing shocks becoming crab too? Vertical reservoirs are on the way out now, with Ohlins being early adopters of horizontal reservoirs.

5/26/2025 4:54am Myself:- I have a litre bottle of the current shimano fluid and a small bottle of royal blood, they're notably different viscousities when you compare them, but neither are as thin as DOT. If the new shimano fluid is even close to DOT, they're probably on to a winner.

5/26/2025 1:55am Shimano oil is already way lower than Magura Royal blood and that green stuff OEMs use sometimes. Are they really going thinner?

5/23/2025 8:34am Sixfinity does look nice, but when I've tested 6-bar layouts in linkage, I can never find significant benefits over 4-bar that outweigh the added complexity. I don't have the experience someone like DW does, so he definitely has some tricks up his sleeve that can make such a suspension design worth it!

5/23/2025 8:27am It's not available but you can definitely put a 29er front wheel on it if you really want. Then again, if you want a mixed wheel alloy dh bike with similar aesthetics, go Raaw.

5/22/2025 9:00am I love this. For ages brands were saying their Enduro bikes were DH bikes you could pedal, but nobody put their money where their mouth was until recently!

5/22/2025 8:54am To say it plainly, yes. That's why you've been seeing the chainstays on nearly every production DH bike settle on a midpivot. They'll all calculate the rider's CG differently, but nearly everyone is chasing high AR numbers at the moment, and the easiest way to do that is to change where the chainstay mounts. In that graph the bike reaches...

5/22/2025 2:27am I don’t think you get it Dave. We are going to revolutionize fork manufacturing on this forum without ever having visited a factory or even talking to a designer or engineer about the myriad of factors that affect the design and manufacture of said forks.
