6/3/2013 8:03pm
by Lee Trumpore e*thirteen has embraced the rising popularity of all-mountain bikes and enduro racing by designing components specifically for the unique needs of each. With the TRSr crankset (short for TRS Race) they’ve taken this a step further by eliminating a traditional triple-ring setup and spider in favor of a unique one piece, interchangeable one or two-ring design. TRSr Crank Highlights Spiderless chainrings shave grams and efficiently transfer power Uses integrated Guidering that can be interchanged with other single or integrated shift rings Exalite R forged material Single ring: 28, 30, 32, 34, 36-tooth options // Double: 22/36, 24/38...

Reviewed by Evan Turpen // Photos by Brandon Turman For the longest time Banshee Bikes were well off my radar. In 2007 I was a professional downhill racer and at the time their products represented heavy, overbuilt, and technologically lacking machines built for the “huckers” amongst us. That all changed in 2008, though, when they introduced the Legend MK1 downhill race bike and their unique approach to new product development. They released 50 frames to a select group of riders, racers, and engineers who all provided feedback that eventually went into the production frames. Banshee then went on to release...

5/3/2013 7:58pm Hmm... I'd say Remedy has better pedaling geometry- you are a little more stretched out and the seat is over the cranks a little more for better climbing position... I've ridden all 3- and if i could only have one it would be remedy. But- you've got the best idea- test them all.

Reviewed by Steve Wentz, Joe Schneider, and Brandon Turman // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Brandon Turman From its creation, the Fuel EX has been the "go-to trail bike" in Trek's lineup. They say it's for the rider that "can't decide between a rugged, capable long-travel trail bike or a nimble, lively XC bike." That's a big slot to fill, especially for a bike with just 130mm of travel and a 68-degree head angle. Curious if it really could meet the needs of both ends of the spectrum, we had the boys from Wisconsin send out a recently updated Fuel...

3/8/2013 9:36am How old are the cranks you have mtbmtbmtb? E*13 updated the instal process and it will have alleviated a lot of the creaking me thinks—in addition to easier setup.

Review and photos by Johan Hjord e*thirteen is a brand that most people will associate with chain retention systems (aka chainguides), and rightfully so – the original e*thirteen guide and bash combos were certainly among the most innovative designs out there at the time, and could be found on many a bike whether it was at a World Cup race or at weekend warrior basecamp. In 2010, e*thirteen was acquired by and became part of The Hive, a company that was at the time mainly producing cranks. The e*thirteen brand was kept alive, and has since then grown to include...

iceman2058 Liked a product review Tested: Royal Racing Signature Glove - Tougher Than You Think
3/4/2013 10:26am
Review and pictures by Johan Hjord Gloves have been part of the offering from Royal Racing for many years, and for 2013, the range is wider than ever. There’s a glove for every condition and every personal preference. The Signature Glove has been around since 2011 - it's Royal’s go-to glove for riders who prefer a very thin and lightweight glove. We laid our hands on (and put them in!) the 2013 edition to see how it would hold up to a couple of months’ worth of abuse. For 2013, Royal has taken a step back towards somewhat calmer styling...

3/2/2013 3:23pm hey Vital/Nick Zuzelski, thanks for taking the time to ride the EC70 Trail wheels. Your readers undoubtedly appreciate that you pushed these wheels to their breaking point. We like that about Vital, that you're not just giving it a parking lot test. We just want to give our two-cents: These wheels are designed for "trail" riding. We intended the lack of 20mm axle to be a limiter. For riders with 20mm forks and more "All Mountain or freeride" bikes, we'd encourage them to ride the Haven Carbon or Havoc wheels. Thank you for mentioning that an aluminum wheel would have...

by Nick Zuzelski Carbon wheels are all the rage as of the past few seasons, but with their high cost, it's still a commodity seen more often on factory pro level bikes and in the wish lists of your everyday rider. Easton kept that in mind while creating the all new EC70 Trail Wheelset, trying to come up with a new price point offering for the trail riding enthusiast. I've been putting these wheels through some all-mountain abuse the past few months and it's time to fill you in on how they've performed. EC70 Trail Highlights The EC70s roll on...
