Can't support it, won't embrace it. From a business sense, absolutely the right move for growth, increase your market reach. That's the only reason to do this. Different sport. Sloppily monster trucking up and down with no line choice required is a watered down version of what we all signed up for. Breathing hard is good for you. Consequences build skill, more skill equates to a new found layers of satisfaction in a sport where you can always get better. This just seems like gadgetry overload. Happy for folks like Henrythehammer. Not happy for my Silicon Valley neighbors rollin up...

As a lifelong rider and avid mountain biker suffering with rheumatoid arthritis, I welcome this new technology. As my disease slowly takes away the one thing in this world that brings me the greatest pleasure, tech like this will keep me in the saddle and riding with my friends for many more years.

I'm not really being an elitist. Elitist would be saying that slow riders don't belong on trails or super fast guys are dangerous. What I'm saying is that those who will be buying E-bikes probably aren't interested in mountain biking. They're interested in something else. A mountain biker is in it for pushing their limits ascending and descending. A true mountain biker that is. Even if you're a DH rider you're trying to push yourself in all aspects. E-bikes aren't bad bikes. in fact I think they'd be great for commuting but they're not for MTB.

Normally I would read the comment section and be saddened to see how many people shun new technology but I have to agree that electric bikes must go asap! They're going to bring a new demographic into mountain biking that I don't think we want and just because there are "more" people in MTB doesn't make it better. Just means there are more people which I read as slower riders and more stopping for these people...

Dirt Magazine goes out of print and now this? Jesus... On a serious note, this is a bad idea for MTB. Are the stupid things fun? Of course they are... It'd also be fun to blast my KX450F up the local MTB trails... It's also fun to shuttle all of the local MTB trails on DH bikes, But most people don't (or they get a lecture and possibly a sock in the nose) 'cause it's totally a bad idea and bad for MTB. Roll down the road a bit and shuttle where it's legal (or, at least permitted) or hit...

The beauty of not having electric assist- The higher you make your way into the trail system, the less gapers and people overall crowding the trails. Electric assist is a horrendous idea. If you're too lazy to pedal to the top, stick to the lifts. At least then we know what trails to avoid. They look massively fun but so does blowing shit up. However, you don't see me in the streets throwing molotov cocktails.

are you referring to EWS? because i haven't heard of too many WC level downhillers running that width. most of the dudes in the top ranks of enduro are pretty short, and quite a few spent a lot of time in the XC circuit so they have certain dimensions they are used to. riders at that level are of a "at this point i know what works for me" mentality. most pros, testers, and demo guys (aka fit people to bikes for a living) i have talked to agree short stem and wide bars is a great development in bike...

780 is spot on for me but I'm also 6'4. You can cut wide bars down which is why they should be spec'd on bikes. I'd rather have bars that are too wide rather than bars that are too narrow.

No disrespect to Intense and their racing history, but I have a hard time seeing why someone would choose this instead of a V10. Even the C version of the V10 frame is going to be significantly lighter and frankly looks a lot more polished. I appreciate keeping production in the US, but frankly this bike looks like a throwback to 2007. And speccing 740mm bars on a DH bike? Really!?!? It's not like Rental doesn't make a wider bar...

So sick of seeing a new bike that really appeals and would actually consider buying , read usually less than 2 paragraphs before the old " riders over six foot may be wanting more reach " crap bomb hits , and boom there goes my day dream of owning one. I'm 6'3" , that is large in my books , when stood around in an average crowd i'm a bit taller than most , but also there will always be guys that are 6'6" and so on , they are XL in size. This sizing needs to be standardized some...

This is a quick question for you bturman. I noticed in the review you gave a small criticism to the Maxxis HR2s in terms of cornering traction. What is currently your favorite tire for aggressive riding (to avoid saying enduro)? I've been riding Schwalbe Magic Mary's for a while and they're my current favorite tire out here in Arizona. I rode the HR2s during a SC demo on a Bronson and while they felt similar to the Mary's they weren't as controllable... Thoughts?

Nice bike! How much did it cost to have the carbon frame painted? Sorry if that seems rude. Just wondering because I am looking at getting a Devinci Wilson Carbon next year and want to have it painted in this year's DGR team colors.

I think the wooden structures can exalt the characteristics of slope style riders. Now the rampage is no longer an exclusively "freeride" event but involves riders from different backgrounds: downhillers, freeriders, slope style riders ...

Soooo....lets remind people here. You're not forced to hit wood at Rampage, Darren and Brandon both had podium worthy lines without touching any wood. AND!! IF you want to hit the wood, YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT THERE!! The top of the course is no joke. It's not a damn boardwalk down to the icon sender, it still takes commitment. If you ride slow and look scared on the way to the wood features, it doesn't matter what you throw, your not going to score well for the whole run. When zink 3'd the sender, he charged to it. Sorge...
