LTrumpore Liked a reply to forum topic Discussion: Fork Damping vs Spring Rate
7/24/2019 9:30am A couple things to add in no particular order some relevant some maybe not: 'wide open' does not mean no damping, it just means the least restrictive end of whatever damping range is available in your fork/shock. If you really want to know what wide open feels like take your fork cartridge out, but good luck trying to ride on anything but pavement. The best damper in the world cannot correct for a poorly set up spring. You really do want to be using your available travel, but that doesn't mean bottoming out a specific number of times. 'mid stroke...

5/29/2019 11:12pm Spomer and Jeff, you sound *exactly* like Lance apologists circa 2007. Which is funny, because Jeff has already admitted to being a Lance apologist circa 2007. "Why would Lance risk it all by doping? He wouldn't. He's an incredible rider in the first place so he doesn't need to dope, plus he's such a down-to-earth likable guy. I trust him." People are competitive and weird, and they don't all share your values. When people can cheat, a lot of people will cheat. Not all people, but a lot of people. BUT NO ONE WOULD CHEAT IN MOUNTAIN BIKING, WE'RE ALL...

5/29/2019 7:51am I agree with you that jkw gets after it for sure, especially in the more recent stuff. It's very possible it's go pro stabilization mixed with a gimbal or something else contributing to why it just feels off. From about 2:20 to 2:40 and 3:20 to 3:30 stand out to me as odd. Hopefully it's just go pro and we...

5/28/2019 9:35pm I want to see actual videos. No "you figure it out" games, I mean seriously - people spend all day on the Internet whining about stuff... but when it domes down to the actual why are people so afraid to link who they're calling out? Like... what's the original video person going to do to you anyways?

I stopped watching at ~45 seconds. Skidding damages these trails. Period. Full stop. Glorifying the act of skidding tells the next generation that it's OK, and then instead of one douchebag skidding we have a whole generation doing it. Stop the insanity -- this includes you, Vital, for encouraging it by not discouraging it.

3/27/2019 6:57pm Via the paper... "Some of the authors (MB, SMM) are co-inventors of CELL technology described in this manuscript, have filed patents, and have a financial interest in the company that owns this technology. These authors (MB, SMM) are founders and co-directors of the Legacy Biomechanics Laboratory. Several of the authors (EB, AR, ST, SMM, M
are affiliated with the Legacy Health System, which was a partial funder of this research. None of the authors received any money or inkind contribution for this work" So yeah, the people who have direct financial incentive wrote a paper showing how amazing the helmet...

2/5/2018 7:03pm @dirtworks911 That's a great question. There are a ton of variables at play here, but our experience with the 27.5" wheels with standard (non boost) spacing has been excellent. More than likely the 29" Next R wheel would be stiff enough for nearly every rider, even more so if you're running boost spacing.

AceHouston Added a comment about product review Forekaster (2017)
11/21/2017 6:11pm Hey @JVP, the tires tested were indeed the 3C MAXX SPEED compound. Before I rode them, I was also skeptical that the MAXX SPEED would perform well in the PNW - especially in the wet. To put it in perspective, just before the Forekaster I was riding Minion DHFs in both MAXX GRIP and MAXX TERRA compounds. In wet conditions the Forekaster was competitive with them. I attribute this to the Forekaster being better at clearing mud and slop than the Minions and I was able to run about 7psi lower (on 5mm wider rims) and get the same tire...

3/1/2014 9:21pm Alon, I would feel comfortable riding this fork on any trail I would take my trail bike down (also about 160-170mm travel). It has been a very solid performer for me and I would expect it to perform great on whatever you can throw at it. The Metric is very similar to the X-Fusion RV1 downhill fork, so you could check out that review if you want another similar, but slightly different perspective.
