Additional Info

Modified this for a friend so thought it was worth a post. Snowy photo shows it stock when I was riding it - tall seat tube (470mm) for the reach (438mm) and quite steep by modern standards. The bb was also fairly high, and you really rode on top of the bike.

I cut the seat tube brace off and chopped the seat tube down to about 395mm, epoxied up the hole in the top tube and painted the area black. I then put a 26" rear wheel in it to slacken the head tube angle and lower the BB.

It was done so that a shorter woman was able to ride the bike comfortably and could run a 150mm dropper post, giving the "large" frame a new lease of life posing as a modern small/med.

The seat tube is a little slack, but with the seat forward on the rails it's totally fine. The bike rides a whole lot nicer with the smaller rear wheel than it used to, and you can really get a lot of power into your turns through your feet. Ignore the crappy seatpost, it has a zero offset dropper now.
