Talk about a throwback - the Extreme Games (before it was called X Games) Dual MTB race from 1995 at Mount Snow. Tattoo Lou (who, by today's standards doesn't seem to have that many tattoos lol), Chris O'Driscoll, Joe "Lawwell", Phil Tinstman, Robbie Naughton, Jurgen Beneke, the first vanzac was really an irish guy in a borrowed 1965 station wagon 🤣 and bikes with reach lengths that match stem lengths LOL. They're hauling through the flat turns! The "technical breakdown at 30:50 is pretty rich, too! has MTB really changed all that much? pretty epic.

Checked this out earlier this week, cool stuff a little before my time but I definitely appreciate it. They also posted videos of the DH and trials events plus something they were calling dual DH from the same 1995 games if you want to post those as well. I haven't checked them out yet but the Hans Rey  Jeff Lenosky trials battle was probably a fun watch.

Classic footage there. Tattoo Lou, John Mutone, Fast Eddie... that track looks like a lot of fun.

Man, dropping chains used to be such a pain. I’d always shift into my middle chainring if I didn’t have to pedal just so I would have more insurance when the chain inevitably skipped off. God bikes were loud.

Racing is always sick to watch tho

I met Tattoo Lou once. This is when shuttling trails and DH bikes kinda didn't exist yet. Especially in our town. But yeah. Think Santa Cruz Super 8. Look it up, if it exists. Legend.

Ha ha, MTB has really changed, although that event always seemed like it was sort of dreamed up by a TV exec, rather than someone into the sport. Even more fun, I spotted me at 17yrs old, standing in the group checking the quali results...I didn't manage to qualify!😆
