So back to team rumors...
The Downtime Les Gets pre-race podcast had a bit of discussion about teams wanting to sign up and coming juniors, leaving riders towards/at the end of their career with few options.
They didn't mention names, but I'm sure we can guess who might be in this bucket. Danny Hart jumps to mind first.
Who else?
Oli Zwar possibly, if I recall he wasn’t sure if his contract would continue with FMD in the how we roll videos last year and it hasn’t come together for him this season.
Speaking of younger riders I wouldn’t be surprised to see some changes at the Syndicate. Has Felix G shown enough to race for them in elite? Possibly someone to replace Nina in the future as well.
I could also see Indy Deavoll getting picked up by a factory team.

So now 3 x the two of you have been spewing misogynistic garbage to do what? Define who is allowed to make an offhand comment in good conscience and goes out of there way to make sure said comment isn’t misread. The “if that’s a pursuit of hers” was specifically made to try to avoid the likes of someone like you doing exactly what you are doing. But I guess next time I’ll write a large disclaimer that I am in no way telling a women what to do and am making a basic comment on the realities of being a female human being. Because some men would rather position themselves as the better femenists than actually treat women and all people for that matter with a modicum of dignity and empathy. I made my original comment cause I fully expect any sane women or man to not be offended by it. I expanded it on it shortly and respectfully. And you two in turn have typed out crazy hypotheticals and the exact stereotypes you are trying to say I’m the one perpetuating. I have made dumb sarcastic comments in the past that I regret (on internet and in real life) because my intentions were completely missed. But I still struggle to read anything I have said and make the connections you are choosing to make in this case.
Please tell me how this behavior is good for feminism or discourse in general? Cause if people can’t talk about how a female athlete might handle the realities of being a woman in good faith. Because unlike Danny, Troy, loic, ag or one day Finn. There is no tahnee racing while wifey sits at home literally making a baby. Finn can’t take a year off so tahnee can keep racing even if they wanted to. How is that not just making the world even harder for women? Is every single facet of womanhood simply too taboo in modern society? I don’t think so. But I do think people who act like you are acting are making it much harder. And again for what. To prove that you’re a real feminist and I’m not? What does that even mean?
So again rather than make a blanket assumption about me and type out the very gender roles you are supposedly against perpetuating. Maybe just consider context a little bit. And if you are going to say something perhaps consider a different tone. Because again I’m not anyone you need to convince of anything. But if i was, you’d be doing a really poor job at it.
the window for these aging riders closes faster and faster too, with the teams trying not only to get the next Max Alran but also not miss out on the next Till Alran. Can really hurt the sport if there are a string of duds, scary. The riders are what make the racing, WBD hasn’t even managed to tell the stories of these established stars…what will they do when they’re all kids?

This is a great point, I've never felt as disconnected from the new batch of riders, but a few years ago I felt like I knew everyone in the top 30's story from Jr to retirement. Peaty fighting off the young kiwi's, Hill coming back every time from disaster, Bryceland coming out of nowhere that season, Smith coming up. Now there's very little investment in the newer up and coming riders even if you want it unless their Asa, or someone chasing elite times when they're a Jr.

Yeah good point. This new format is so focused on fast youth and who's next that younger riders that do get a chance to move up basically have 2-3 years tops based off their team contracts to show what they can do. If these athletes have an injury or are slower to get to the World Cup pace that is required these days then their careers are over. Riders like Danny Hart , Loic ,Thirion, Kolb, Benoit are a part of the old format where talent was invested in with time. This new format will see elite males being retired from WC racing at 21, 22, 23 years of age. Pretty sad considering how deep the talent pool is these days and how hard some of these riders work😑
I'm more interested in seeing more wild loose and fast guys like Nathan Pontivane racing. He doesn't speak English so I haven't seen much media coverage about him but he is the type of rider that the series needs more of.
Too many of the stylish riders like Kade and Phil Atwill have left the World Cup scene and it's been a loss.
Add Brendog , bulldog and blenki and so many more that have retired and that's a lot of personalities and their stories gone from racing.
But at the end of the day, the new kids on the block are leagues faster than the old dogs. It's racing and The clock does not lie.

They don't see much money in "tell the stories of these established stars" when the model is changing to the racers are a consumable comodity to be chewed up spit out and replace before they become costly or gain any power. Only those at the top (UCI and WBD) may be allowed to have power in this sport.

Terence Trent D’Arvo.
