I got a ride in on the WT ones this weekend.  I'm of sort of mixed feelings.  There were times I didn't notice them at all.  There were times where I felt like maybe my grip was a bit more relaxed.  There were moments where I felt like I was able to push down on the inside bar end while cornering a bit better.  But there were also a lot of times where I felt like there was a uncomfortable pressure on the outside end of my injured hand, just in front of the wrist.  And on my last lap down a steep and natural trail (fairly smooth) my injured hand felt like it was almost cramping where the bar end rested - which I don't get just the GDH Slim grips.  I will have to try some more with/without but I'm not sold yet.  For me personally, I feel like the huge end on the OneUp Goldstone grips got me most of the way there, and I had to stop running those because the hard rubber flange was bothering my injured knuckle also (to a lesser extent).

WT version, coming from Counterpunch, about 10 days of park.  Definitely give them a try if you think they will improve your arm/hand issues.

  • Non-intrusive to riding
  • Attachment mechanism looks to be way more gentle on bars than Counterpunch's
  • Gives a locked in feel
  • Good possibility that it offers crash protection similar to Counterpunch, haven't tested yet
  • Does make bar more narrow by 5-10mm b/c of small overlap with end of bar

Anyone got any knowledge about foam and recommendations on what might hold up the longest on the inside of the bar ends.  I'm assuming it's not what I can buy at Michael's.  I've decided to give them go, but definitely want to have something to pad them on hand when testing them out.

Own the Breeden bar ends and a big fan. I don't really have any downsides other than I should've bought some for the enduro bike as well. Still puzzling around to figure out to get the most out of them, either locked in or with some float for the hand, and my corresponding cockpit setup.

Pretty cheap upgrade that's helped my arm pump a lot, and has the same benefits as installing the counter-punches w/out the same risk of impaling yourself.

Any other experiences out there?

Im curious about how they attach, Do you need to chop the end of your grip off?

A few more rides in, and I’m less in love with the bar ends. They still feel good on chunky, technical stuff, but for the other 90% of the ride they’re kind of in the way. The last few rides I’ve finished with the edges of my hands feeling raw and sore.

Been messing around with the wolf tooth ones at the bike park. I don't have arm pump problems but it seems to help with hands cramping up and feels nice in big G-out berms. Staying on my DH bike for sure but I'm not rushing out for more pairs for the trail bikes because I can imagine having the same complaint as above, and I've never been able to pedal enough to get any real arm/hand fatigue

Well worth 35 bucks I have to say, they really nailed the ergonomics. I tried some half-disc ones last year and absolutely hated it, but these seem to conform perfectly to my hands

peeled back the rubber on my meaty paws and slightly recessed the inner sleeve.  Just punching out a hole and there was kind of a gap between the end of the grip and the bar end with that grip.

First impressions is they work pretty much as advertised.  Agreed about some very minor discomfort but I think that’s just a matter of getting used to it.  Definitely going on the dh bike and going to keep em on the trail bike for now and come to a decision later.

i ain’t very stylish but i can see how they’d impede  riders who like to take their hands off the bars.

Ck out Amuary's setup, his mechanic just used some felt.  I don't think foam would be a good application, probably get ripped off very fast.

I use gloves, rubbing friction issues haven't been an issue for me.

The discomfort I was getting was the side of the bone between knuckle and wrist, more pronounced by the wrist.  I run my bars narrow-ish (760) and felt like it was kinda blocking how much I can rotate my hands outward.  I'll give them another once my knuckle doesn't hurt - I'm sure it's not helping matters.

I hear you on normal foams, but there are some very durable "foams" out there.  https://billiebars.com/pages/landing-page-tailgate?variant=48612368384298  I was hoping someone had some intel on specs or terminology to help me order a 1/16 sheet of something like this stuff.  If I can find some time get serious about some research (prob when I can actually get a set a bar ends on order), I'll report back.

I would just try them first before worrying too much. I was just using them for a week, had terrible palm blisters halfway in but never felt anything approaching discomfort where the bar ends contact. If you do need something I'd probably just grab a roll of adhesive open cell foam and replace it often. A more dense foam like neoprene or whatever won't really be much softer than the rubbery bar end material
