Lower headset cups with extended height.

Wolftooth used to make lower headset cups, both ZS and EC that were designed to increase height by 10mm effectively helping adjust or dial in axle to crown height for weird builds.

They have since stopped making these.

Is anybody aware of anyone else doing this? Specifically for my needs, I need an EC44 version with the ability to run a 1 1/2” to 1 1/8” crown race also.

However, any type is extender cups may be of interest to the collective.

Does works still make one? It might be tied to a reach adjust set tup but pretty sure they make one similar

Not at the headset cup I put an MRP extended crown race on a rigid fork for +10mm ATC and it works perfectly. Although this is a rigid bikepacking type setup on my hardtail. This is better than an extended headset cup for my particular use case since I can switch back and forth with a suspension fork where I don't want the increased height.  link

Pinner Machine Shop makes what you're looking for though: https://pinnermachineshop.com/en-us/products/hedraiser

Thank you both for the ideas.

Again I need a 44EC Lower and I’d like to add 10mm to the stack-up height.

It looks like Works makes reach adjust but nothing to add height.

Pinner only has a 56mm headtube size stock, but may be able to custom make a 44mm. I’ll reach out.

If any one else knows of something production, I’m all ears!

I have a Works reach adjust on one of my bikes and it actually adds right around 10mm extra in between the fork and headtube.  I would have to double check to confirm the exact amount, but it's definitely in that ballpark.  It's because of how they achieve the change in reach by spacing they headset bearings outside of the headtube.

One thing to keep in mind, is the upper bearing also sits above the headtube so between the two you lose a fair bit of steer tube room.  I had a bunch of spacers beforehand and just barely had enough room to fit my stem on after.

It looks like State Bicycle of all places might have an option for the EC, and Niner has an ZS one as well (I think Pivot was using a similar option previously on bikes for the same reasons, but no idea if they are still available). I haven't used either, just found them via the Google. I was bummed that Wolftooth stopped making them, as I'm using one currently on a Rocky Mountain Element to tweak the geo, and its worked perfectly for me.

Pivot has a 17mm zs option also.

I've used both the cane creek 5mm and the MRP 10mm crown race with a cane creek headset on a yeti sb150 with great results. Only downside is the crown race in both cases doesn't have a rubber lip to seal the bearing. Wasn't a big deal where I live in SW CO, but if you live in a muddy place ya might want a fender on the fork to minimize spray on the lower headset bearing.

Use a 10mm longer fork. It's very easy if you have a Mezzer/Mattoc, and quite easy with most other forks.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of frame and fork are you running?

Because it's a 44mm headtube and an 1 1/8" straight steerer tube, it sounds like it's a dirt jump bike, or maybe an older steel frame and old school 26" fork?

Yes. It would be going on a rigid single speed bike.

This is a bit of a Franken-bike project trying to chase an old Unit build that I never should have sold. I’ve attached a photo of that bike below so you all can laugh at me.

I am looking at a couple options for the frame but they all are designed around a ~495mm A2C. I’d like to run an Identiti Rebate XL fork (465mm) for peace of mind on the front end. I’m just trying to get 10-15mm more height to maintain geo as much as possible.

Nice! I love a good Frankenbike, and I promise we're laughing with you, not at you.
