Most people with this dropper will have noticed side to side + fore and aft play if you try to push on the saddle in either direction. After my service a couple days ago all of that was just gone so there's just no play either side to side nor fore and aft. I mention this because I'm sure this isn't something they will go out and promote widely(at least not to my knowledge) and may go under the radar for most.

In their newest rebuild kit they have made changes to the upper bushing which now consists of a shorter black one + a brass ring. Personally I used all the contents of the bag but I believe these two are what removed the slack between the upper and lower part of the dropper given all other parts have the same design as stock.

IDENTIFY YOUR UPPER BUSHING

There are two versions of the V3 dropper upper bushing (10).

The original V3 IGUS upper bushing (10) is a single tan colored bushing.

The Updated V3.1 Bushing is a two piece assembly: 1 shortened black IGUS upper bushing (10) & a lower brass ring (26).

Installed it will look like this:

It would be great if you could just order those two but it's only available as part of the rebuild kit.

It would be interesting to know if this is added as a rolling change in the production line and if it is a way to know before buying (or at least looking at the production code or whatever)

Very informative post, thanks! I will be in the market for a long dropper next year, so this is good to know

This is how mine looked like and I did follow their instructions when I wanted to do a quick regrease. As they now have upgraded this item with a better solution I'm sure they have simply acknowledged it not being up to the task. I'm sure they've gotten lots of feedback on the matter and then jumped on it now with the upgraded rebuild kit.

I'm pretty sure there's going to be lots of old stock on the shelves here and there so my best bet would be to order directly from them to make sure you get the updated version.

To be honest I bought the rebuild kit just to be able to change this bushing only to notice they had upgraded it when I opened up the bag. It's one of those moments you wish you got it for free because this shouldn't really happen, but I'm just going to let this one slide for now given I now got peace of mind with a very good dropper.

In my mind they should now simply add two of the black igus bushing and brass ring so when you order a rebuild kit you can simply just swap out the stock broken one given most other parts will most likely still be fine. Then you'll still have a complete rebuild kit at bay for when it's more appropriate to change everything.

This is a chronic issue with the V2 as well, I wish they would update the V2 rebuild kit with these bushings.

I had similar wear on my v3 bushing that I'd gotten at around release time.

April, 2024 receive v3 post from OneUp.  I had gotten a very good deal on a v2 when the v3 came out, but it was a dud right out of the box.  OneUp didn't have any v2s in my particular size left in stock to replace it, so they sent me a brand new, just released v3 at no additional cost.

Oct. 15, 2024: finally opened post up to re-lube and found a bushing that looked like the above.  Reached out via their website and heard back same day that they'd seen accelerated wear on the bushing, that they'd send me a stopgap solution while they worked on the new bushing.

Oct. 18, 2024 a full rebuild kit and something like five extra old-style v3 bushings showed up at my door.  I promptly forget about this and move on with my life.

June 30, 2025 OneUp emails me out of the blue that they have the new rebuild kits available and ask for my address.  Full rebuild kit with new bushing style arrives at my door two days later.  No charge.

To say that I'm pleased with their customer service is an understatement.  As long as they treat me like this, I'll buy anything I can from them.

Maybe I should reach out to One Up because my bushing looks way worse than that lmao

Ok, now things start to add up because I bought mine june 19th 2025 with 20% off from a european shop and I believe OneUp also had the same 20% off at the same time. That must mean they tried to dump old stock and replace with new.

Anyhow, the dropper is great in itself so I'll let this one slide given it's now also even better. I do like their ecosystem in general and always quick and helpful in interactions as well.

Given the brass ring is the height of what is removed from the updated igus bushing on v3.1 I don't see why it wouldn't work to do a hack on the V2. It's a matter of price and perhaps buying a V3.1 rebuild kit for a V2 dropper just to get a brass ring might be overkill. Maybe something can be sourced another way and then just remove an equal amount from the V2 upper bushing and then slide a brass ring in under it.

I believe the hardness of the brass ring compared to an igus bushing is what takes away most of the slack that has been there, in the same way pedals with igus bushings can have play right out of the box.

It all depends on how badly you want to keep running the V2 over upgrading to the V3, that's all.

My V2 had been tearing through this bushing. I ended up contacting One Up in July and they sent out a free service kit (which included a new bushing) within the week. Good customer service, for sure!

The V2 works sick. I look forward to keeping it in good working condition as long as I can with or without the brass ring.

OneUp do have great customer support from that standpoint and do throw the kitchen sink at you if anything remotely is wrong with their product.

In my case the small bearings in the aluminium pedals (V1 with the three small bearings) detonated and the outer ring was stuck in the bore of the body. I was sent a new set without questions only for me to later be able to fish out the ring with a drill, rebuild them and keep using them (they are either still in use or a backup now).

My EDC pump also failed on the one way valve and I was also sent a new one, only to find out later (Pinkbike pump test) that there's a rebuild kit. Asking them if it would help, they said yes and rebuilding the old one fixed it.

One negative I have about them is that they don't have replacement axles for the pedals, claiming that a bend axle usually means a damaged body as well. I bought two sets of pedals plus the replacement ones means I have 3 sets in total with a total of three bent axles. I had to buy titanium axles from a Swiss guy off ebay to get two sets back up and running and not waste otherwise perfectly good pedal bodies.

I'd absolutely install this new style of bushing on my V2 posts at their next service, so I echo that's it be a nice update.  However, the rate of wear was exponentially worse on my v3 post.  I'd label it a comprise or something you can live with on a V2, but a clear warranty issue on a V3.

Understood the issue to be something about the material the V3 bushing once it went into mass production for the first batch of consumer posts.
