I'll be travelling from Paris to Morzine by train (via Geneva) at the beginning of August, and I will have my bike with me when I go. The bike bag I'll be bringing it in is a bit bigger than the listed sizing from TGV Lyria (131x81 vs 120x90), so I was wondering if anyone here has first hand info on how rigorously that sizing might be enforced?
On a separate note, this will be my first time in Europe, and any recommendations on riding, food, or anything else I should see in the Portes du Soleil area would be appreciated! I've got 5 days of lift tickets booked, and I highly doubt I'll be able to ride everything in that time, so some recommendations would be appreciated!

Being that I'll be sleeping in Morzine every night, which of the other resorts are easiest to get to?
I should also note the train manager was quite helpful in spite of my broken Canadian french.
Someday, when I go to Switzerland, in situations wherein nobody speaks English, I'll be barely passable in German. I don't even know how to ask for a bathroom in French.
I wouldn't expect there to be much German language wise, since Morzine borders with the french speaking part of Switzerland. I did meet a good number of Germans there though.
