Big huge YES YES YES to the new 1.8" head tube standard. I've killed the CSUs on the last 4 forks I've run on my 160mm 65* head angle bike.

But what the heck is up with some in the industry thinking just e-bikes need stronger forks? Idiots. Stronger drivetrains, yes, e-bikes need more beef. But slack trail/enduro bikes going hard is why we need stronger forks. 15 extra pounds is nothing. Speed, jumps/drops and head angle stress is what's killing forks. MV^2.

E-bikes and Enduro racing are the best things to ever happen for heavier/harder riders. Everything else in the industry is designed for 5'8" 165-pound riders with an intermediate skill level. Yes please, I'll take a double order of E-bike forks, brakes, wheels, and drivetrain, thank you..

Press it out and press it back in with Loctite -> no more creaking - that´s what the fork manufactures should do anyways.

I have long been a proponent of using something like Llord's adhesive. Its basically a glue, but its a glue strong enough to put super cars and snowmobiles together.

Press fit+glue. Done.

Or since I don't have said press, just buy a DVO Onyx and be done with it. But yeah, certain MFRs need to do something like this. Or just be willing to have their forks be over 2kg. I think they're beholden to that magic number which is making for unreliable crowns.

I actually think it's about stack height. The old Fox 36 (pre-2015) had a big tall crown that was 10mm taller at the steerer tube, but never creaked. For the new fork they made it shorter and it always creaks. With larger front wheels (27.5, 29) they're really sensitive about stack height. If you think of a fork as a gigantic lever, a taller fork/steerer interface with more overlap adds tons of stiffness and strength to resist that lever arm with very little extra weight. It's all aluminum.

1.8" steerer tube because those extra 10kg on those ebikes affects front flex more than variation in rider weight...Not like you couldn't just go for a dual crown either, eh? Who are these idiot engineers? Do they think we are complete morons?
