such respect for these guys riding at that level 'back in the day' often rigid forks tackling some rather lumpy terrain..awesome. Would love to see some of the full suss peeps give it a go these days they'd realise how tough it was. I think I spent most of the 1990s doing xc races followed very closely by a trip to the local pharmacy for anticeptic!!

I can't think of a 5 minute period in my life prior to watching this that I've laughed and cringed as hard as I did as often as I did. Proper soundtrack as well!

I'm also amazed that nobody tried the high line in that first section. Looks like it was a relatively smooth and straight line...as much as any line could have been on those rigs.

They are actually downhillers which, back then, also did XC, and Dual-slalom. Others even raced road, track, bmx and even rode trials. DH was insanely infantile and fringe back then. As kidwoo mentioned, Palmer essentially gave DH the wake-up-call it had been waiting for.

It's a good thing those guys were wearing all that spandex. The wind resistance must have been unreal at those speeds.

You know your sport sucks when someone like palmer 'revolutionizes' the world by just showing up to an event in actual clothes.

I dusted off a '95 rockhopper equipped with a rockshox fork, canit brakes, 110mm stem and 540mm bars with barends and I can tell you it was scary...I dont know if it was the 20year old panracer smokes or the fact that you might as well have been lying down on your stomach while riding but I can tell you that it doesn't resemble anything you would consider a mnt bike...I almost wadded myself riding through a field with a slight slope..I started riding in 2000 so by then things were pretty well sorted but the early to mid 90's bikes were sketchy
