Intro Text

The longest and fastest EWS of 2017 is in the books and none other than Sam Hill took a win, despite Sven's lack of faith in him. Perhaps it was reverse psychology, but we'll never know. The racing in Aspen, Colorado for round 6 of the Enduro World Series was incredibly close with the Martin Maes, just 3.8 seconds off the win and Jared Graves only 8 seconds off the pace after nearly 40 minutes of racing. Cecile Ravanel, despite her own trials and tribulations took the women's victory at altitude and Killian Callaghan, the working-man's Junior stole a win from American Duncan Nason in the final stretches. Sven Martin, Lee Trumpore and @maddogboris bring the in-depth goods from Colorado!

Sam heard that I didn't think he could podium here. Long, physical tracks, high altitude, flat pedals...I just didn't think it would suit him or Dailly. I was right about Adrien but dead wrong about Sam. Gesture noted and filed away. -Sven Martin
Vital named their podcast after something Sam Hill does better than anyone. The inside line where no others dared. Interestingly he said he remembered getting stood up on this berm at a Norba National here nearly 15 years ago, so decided to go inside. -Sven Martin
3 stage wins and another race win for Cecile Ravanel! Here hidden in the trees on Stage 5! @maddogboris
Cecile took another win with a decent margin, but not without some crashes, injuries and struggles of her own. -Sven Martin
Martin Maes sideways and loose on stage five. He's well-happy with the weekend's results especially after his mechanical at the last round. 2nd place for Maes. -Sven Martin
Junior winner Killian Callaghan dropping into stage five, which had the longest liaison excluding the pedal over to Aspen. You can see Snowmass village down below near where the stage finished. -Sven Martin
USA's Duncan Nason lead the Junior race for much of the weekend but had the win snatched from him right near the end. Second place, only 1.5 seconds off the win after nearly forty nine minutes of racing. -Sven Martin
Isabeau Courdurier took a stage win ended up second on the weekend. Smashing the final blown berm on the final stage. -Sven Martin
Jared Graves feels at home here in Colorado with the Aspens. Only eight seconds from the win with two big crashes on stage three. -Sven Martin
Flatting up high on the super-long stage four. Richie Rude somehow still rode to a 56th place. That is mind boggling. Unfortunately another flat would ruin what started off as a race-winning weekend. -Sven Martin
Adrien Dailly admitted he just does not have the engine and power for these long stages. This makes sense since he won the short DH stage six. -Sven Martin
Rachel Pageau through the wildflowers on stage three. -Sven Martin
Cody Kelley with his best result this weekend. The dry, familiar conditions no doubt helped with some confidence because the speed is always there. -Sven Martin
Wow. Back from injury and straight into the Top 10. When the average speeds are high, Curtis Keene's results improve and this round has the highest speeds out of all of them. -Sven Martin
Anita Gehrig just off the podium with a 4th. I'm sure she will be feeling much better this morning though than a year ago after her first podium here. -Sven Martin
The stages had a bit of everything. Damien Oton navigates the rowdy rock stage five. Fourth for the weekend. -Sven Martin
Brian Lopes might be mistaking this for the A-line Air DH race in Whistler. Second place to a still very-professional Karim Amour in the Masters. -Sven Martin
Standing room only on stage six. -Sven Martin
Francois Bailly-Maitre loves the super-long stages and it showed with his result. Seventh place. -Sven Martin
Mitch Ropelato took a stage win on stage three. That is a huge accomplishment at this level. A flat cost him an easy top ten finish. Will this performance motivate him for next year. Can you cage such talent though solely between the tape? -Sven Martin
Mark Scott sliding into the final berm on six. -Sven Martin
With the finish near the pits, coolers were on hand for thirsty, relieved and happy riders. -Sven Martin
Service scale costs at SRAM. The note. -Sven Martin
Casey Brown seems to handle all kind of disciplines and types of terrain. Another EWS podium for this multi-talented freeracer. -Sven Martin
Sam has always liked America from the early days of his racing career. Celebrations begin at SRAM. -Sven Martin
Yoann Barelli and Jack, who is 83 years old and still riding all the stages as a sweep, but chooses not to use the lift! Hard man. -Sven Martin
Remi Gauvin with a rare straight air. Keeping it low and fast during the race on stage four. Eighth place and his best result yet. Steadily creeping up in the ranks. Remi and Jesse Melamed in audio -Sven Martin
Jesse Melamed did some things this weekend that blew my mind. Easily the fastest in a few of the trickier sections and a pleasure to watch. Watch out Whistler. -Sven Martin
Ride down your road at 78km/h and get a feel for how fast that feels. Then do the same on a dirt singletrack. You will blow your mind and maybe your pants too. Lewis Buchanan with some big numbers. -Sven Martin
Champagne hits you harder at altitude. Pro Women's podium -Sven Martin
Jerome Clementz, stylish and perfect technique as always just slipping out of the Top 10. -Sven Martin
Sam Hill began the weekend by winning stage one here. Carrying speed was what it was all about here and Sam is one of the best at that. -Sven Martin
Shawn Neer with a great race 21st for the American racer, including a top five on stage three. Now go watch him blast 7 feet out of the bowl on his BMX bike at your local skatepark. -Sven Martin
Andréane Lanthier Nadeau on stage three. She battled hard and despite some great stage finishes had to settle for sixth place. -Sven Martin
Ines Thoma was not happy with her eighth place, but she has had a tough season with illness and injury and is looking to bounce back for the next two rounds. -Sven Martin
Yoann Barelli one of the few to do the big outside drop line on the waterfall of stage six. -Sven Martin
Florian Nicolai near the end of stage six. A great stage five helped him this weekend. -Sven Martin
Was this the end of the Enduro Wet Series curse for 2017? If it it weren't for this creek crossing on Stage 1 we wouldn't have had a drop of water on us. -Lee Trumpore
Stage 3 winner, Mitch Ropelato became yet another casualty of a flat tire on Stage 5. -Lee Trumpore
Yes Randy! -Lee Trumpore
13th Place for Cody Kelley and without his flat on Stage 5, could have easily been a Top 10. @maddogboris
Cedric Ravanel had a little wakeup situation on Stage1...luckily he rode it out and didn't crash! @maddogboris
5th Place and a Stage 6 win for Trek Factory Racer, Katy Winton. @maddogboris
Little background story: I nearly missed Stage 2 because I got a bit lost. I freaked out and climbed a massive gravel wall to get back on the trail. I made it just in time to that spot and got my favorite shot of Anneke Beerten this weekend. @maddogboris
Damien Oton had his best result this weekend with the second-fastest time on Stage 2 in Aspen. @maddogboris
Consistent racing and a stage win got Jared Graves on the podium in 3rd. @maddogboris
Maes throwing it into the rut. @maddogboris
Isabeau Courdurier on Stage 4 going fast to start the second day of racing. 2nd place for the Frenchie at the end. (P.S., thanks for the Vodka ;) @maddogboris
Casey Brown was on fire in Collorado, winning Stage 4 and 3rd on the Podium. Well done! @maddogboris
Speedtuck for the win. Killian Callaghan, stage 3. @maddogboris
Caroline Gehrig going fast on Stage 4 while EWS filmer Chris Seager gets some BGP's. @maddogboris
Yeti Racer, Anne Galyean, had a wild moment on the last stage of the race. 12th Place for her this weekend. @maddogboris
It's amazing to see Sam Hill and Jared Graves on the podium, while the youngster, Martin Maes, has some problems opening the bottle. @maddogboris
Media crew signing out from Aspen. Some of us will see you in Mont-Sainte-Anne! -Sven Martin
