So, With Team Atherton likely to move on to TREK , The current Trek world racing team of Laurie greenland , Brook Macdonald and George Brannigan will be no longer, with Brook potentially making the swap to GT.

A direct swap seems weird , but wouldn't be the first time.

However , no confirmation of this yet. Others thoughts?

If there was any truth to this then would it also mean the end if the trek factory enduro team??.
It might also explain why Leov left off some pretty big sponsors off the thank you list in his last diary entry -

If Santa Cruz are in fact loosing Minnar, who might they pick up to replace him? Brook reminds me a lot of Rennie.

I believe Minnaar and Rats contracts are up with SC. Peaty signed a 5 year deal a couple years ago...

I'm sure at the time GM might have thought he would retire at this point but after last year he may have the itch. I would be surprised that GM leaves given his close relationship with Rob... May be GM has been recruiting Bruni for some time knowing that he isn't going to be in the game forever like Peaty

On a separate note, why can't this be more like other sports. Where we all know who is a free agent with speculation about who they are talking to?

I get the riders contracts are through the end of the calendar year, but how about just making them end after the season so us nerds at home can enjoy some solid off season banter? Who knows, the riders probably enjoy reading our bullshit and how far off we are...

Wouldn't be suprised if Greenland was picked up by Madison Saracen ? A strong british bound team. However there are endless options if you are the junior world champ anyone with a spare slot will be gunning for him.

Rat boy won't leave the syndicate and we all know it.

As for Greg minnar, I can seem him taking a Claudio Clauri type role. However, he still has so much in him unlike the Athertons. However, he will be back for next season aboard his v10.

There will be no changes to a team so successful .

Does anyone know how long blenky signed with NORCO for? was it a 1 year contract?

As we all know, most teams have 3 PRO elite riders and a junior- This means the rebuild of a Blenky, Bruni and vergier team could be likely for lapierre

If Trek is done the big question should be what is Martin going to do? Is he going to recreate a team with a new frame sponsor? He is not just a team owner but an agent to many big name guys. mostly from NZ and then Greg Minnar and guys like Straight and Zink.

He did start Global Racing before Honda so I can see him starting something totally new and taking at least one of his guys with him. Remember, he is the agent of a bunch of CC guys as well so there would have to be a team for that too.

It would/will? be cool to see what he comes up with next. He should really just cut the crap and hire a good engineer, build his own bike company and use his skills for himself instead of the profits of others. He's smart enough and is probably bored as hell right now not drawing cartoons. (Yes, I still believe.)

I wouldn't be surprised if you are right. As you said martin is an agent for a large load of NZ guys.

George Brannigan confirmed he had been offered an amazing deal for next year, Are we potentially looking at a GT
WC team ran by Martin?

That would be amazing. How 'bout this for rumor mongering... I'm sure that Martin knows perfectly well what was inside those Honda bikes. And GT loves that futuristic stuff. Let's bring back the secretive days of tents within tents and complete unknowns. Perhaps a liscencing agreement with Honda? Rumor has it...

On a side note. I got into the second level of the tent once for a job interview with Martin in the Honda days. He told me to go to the Olympic training center and take their class before he'd even consider me. I never did go.

Wasn't the Honda gearbox just a cassette and a derailleur inside a box? There are quite a few interesting gearbox designs on the market right now, don't know why you'd go and design another one. Sure, there are other ideas that could be used still, speaking about Honda they have their seamless shift boxes in motogp, but I don't see much of a reason to complicate a mtb gearbox so far.

With the end of TWR, Max Commençal's tweet may be a little more clear : wouldn't the "Greg" be Greg Williamson ?

Oh and Bruni is very likely to stay with Lapierre this year. Just read his PB interview.
