Sorry for replying that late. It's called Neoguard. Check it out here: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=27831
The small chainring (36t) comes into play when combined with the 10-speed rear mech. That´s a 2011 X9 with a 12-36 cassette which gives me a neat 1:1 (or 1:3 on the small ring) ratio. I chose that because a lot of the riding around here has no uplifts available whatsoever and I want to be able to pedal a few hills without completely killing myself. And yes, there will be a telescopic seatpost on it one day. I like to think of it as an oversized Enduro
