What’s the down low on bike cleaner? I’ve been using watered down simple green for a while but it seems like it takes a toll on some of the anodized stuff. I just got a new bike so I’m trying to keep it nice. Any recommendations are welcome.

I know people are going to talk shit on dish soap but I add a few pumps of dish soap to a bucket of hot water. Dawn is designed to work on oil (grease) so when used with hot water it cleans chains and stuff really well. People say it will dull your finish on the bike but I’ve never noticed. I’ve heard of people getting big things of car washing soap as a cheap option that won’t harm the frame finish.

I switched over to the cheap car wash soap recently and I love it. $10 for a big bottle at AutoZone.

Only an Aussie knows what CT-18 is haha.

I got 20L of it from Supercheap Auto on some crazy special for $49. Enough to last me 100 lifetimes. I tell my mates to take a litre whenever they visit. It works awesome, safe on anodizing and matt finishes but eats dirt like a fat kid eating cake.

Dawn dishwashing soap and water here. It's what rescuers use to clean wildlife after oil spills so it's got something good going on. Also works well to remove poison ivy/oak/sumac oils when you get home from a day of thrashing around in the brush.

CT18 for the win. I put a tiny bit in a 1litre hand pump sprayer, coat the bike, leave for 5mins or so and hose off 👍
