I don't want you guys to get bored, so here are a couple more:

If you had to move your HQ outside of the PNW, where would be your first choice?

For Kevin: Do you have favorite riding short and/or pants? I have a heck of a time finding bottoms that work well with my long, skinny legs.

Personal opinion here: Revelstoke! That place is incredible.

Any advice for a baseline setup on the Fox 36 Grip 2 Performance Elite on my Patrol? I've had it for two weeks and seem to be struggling more than normal to get it where I want it. I'm at 175 lbs. on the bike.

Hard to think about ever leaving the PNW, but my vote would be the opposite corner....Vermont has some amazing riding, recreation, and the people are the best!

Been riding Transition for a long, long time. From a 888 on the front of my Vagrant back in 2006, to a TR450, to a TR500, to a Patrol, love my 2019 Sentinel. Digging the fact that it's a XXL as well. I want to put a One Up dropper, 210mm in it. Any estimates as to how much post will still be sticking out of the frame when it's inserted all the way to max insertion?

I get what you are saying (wink wink) and I personally did not get to ride them. Still would love to some day, probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. On the cx/gravel thing, no plans for anything but we are constantly changing things up so you never know but I wouldn't hold your breath. You could file that under the same folder as "Are we bringing back the Klunker". Personally I love super skinny sketchy tires on my CX bike :-) Funny to see where that genre has gone and we are now basically running mountain bike tires on gravel/cx bikes.
Definitely the most amazing place I've ever ridden/worked!

I do love doing things I shouldn't on the rapture! Really gave me a new appreciation for being scared on a bike at low speeds 😂

For sure! How long till your 21 and where is your favorite place to ride in RI? We have a rad shop in RI, Blackstone Cycles. Was supposed to ride there but the day we were rolling through they had biblical proportion rains that shut down the riding.

Dudes,

Seriously, with the money I spent on a Patrol, WTF does the PAINT have more chips than a Doritos bag? What are you gonna do about it?

I have been loving the new ION apparel. They make shorts in multiple lengths and the riding pants fit me great at 6'4". They definitely have a little more of the Euro fit which is better for thinner riders. https://www.ion-products.com/bike/men/bikewear/

Interesting approach. What would you like them to do about it?

Not Kevin... but same leg length and I'm not as skinny as a rail. I have been really stoked on the Ride NF pants. My socks show a bit, but not too high water, and the rest of the fit and feel is perfect for me.

Hey guys! Long time customer here, been a Transition junky since the Preston FR. Thanks for all the good times and sorry for all the annoying phone calls over the years. So here's my question: I've owned both the SBG Patrol and Sentinel in carbon. at 6' 3", I feel more comfortable overall on a 29 but I find the Patrol to be quite a bit easier to when hitting jumps and berms (think mini A-line type stuff). I love how the Sentinel gave me so much confidence in steep chunder, but I felt less comfy hitting bigger jumps and struggled to get it around corners. I've also gone back and forth between large and XL, typically sticking with large because I find the shorter wheelbase helps me corner better. But it feels a bit small in the cockpit. Question is, does my experience between 27.5 and 29, and between large and XL make logical sense? I'm sure most of it is due to lack of skill on my part, particularly in cornering. Pretty much everyone thinks I'm crazy to be on a large. Should I really be on an XL and try to improve my cornering and jumping technique? Lastly, any comparison of the cornering and jumping feel of the new Sentinel vs. the previous generation? Sorry, that was actually three questions.
Bike sizing and wheel size preference is very personal depending on your riding style, past bikes and setups etc. At 6'3" I would definitely put you square on an XL but riding a large isn't out of the question. Usually when people size up it takes some getting used to but they end up loving it in the long run. The bigger frame will give you more room to adjust and move your body while riding. Ideally you want to be pretty centered on your bike so you get good traction on both your front and rear wheel when climbing, cornering and jumping. I am not a bike coach so take that with a grain of salt, that is just how I personally feel about my body position on my bike. Hope that helps.

Is it safe to assume from you ignoring all of the “When are you releasing the new patrol?” questions that it is coming soon? If so, I hope Chaz Bro’s next big moment will be in the release video, Like, #oncoil and stuff, bra!

For starters, I know I'm not the only person that has noticed the very chippy paint they use. So I'd say they change the paint brand or add paint hardener to it or something. I'm not a paint-ologist but over the course of my many different bikes and brands, by far this current paint job is the least durable.

You might want to pop an email to info@transitionbikes.com and we could get more of a dialog going about what you want out of the fork that it's not doing and how to achieve it with setup. --Sam

Hey Team! Curious for those who ride Sentinel's (the original) how you change it up, or if you change it up, when going to Whistler? Do you switch to coil? Or just leave it as you ride it everywhere else?

The new Sentinel is touted as versatile, playful and still big enough to get rowdy. Where does the Smuggler fit? It’s new bike year for me and I have important decisions to make!

Haha, I'll be 21 next year! I spent the day with y'all in Newport when when we were supposed to have the demo day two years ago. Best riding is definitely at Lincoln Woods and Diamond Hill. Hope you guys are staying safe out there! cheers

I also would love to know why the paint is so chippy. While I plan to keep my sentinel for a long time I am buying bikes for my 12 y/o as well. Since my kid grows out of bikes quickly I obviously need to get as much for it when I sell. I put All mtn style on all the usual spots but quickly realized that I should have used invisiframe or helicoptor on everysq in. Transition Is by far our favorite bikes and brand. So much fun riding/demo with you guys at nembafest and thunder mtn. Thanks

I guess I misinterpreted you. I assume you meant "Are there any plans to address the paint issues on frames. It chips easily."

Im not a paint-ologist either, but I have been an automotive painter for the last 15 years. From what Ive seen, it's a mixture of surface preparation and application error. You have to consider that these are likely being a paint in bulk at a large volume place.

I too am curious if they do have any immediate plans to address the paint issues.

Hey Steve, generally for a day at the park I would just switch up to heavier casing tires or full DH rubber ideally. Depends if your just sessioning A-Line all day or hitting RDS on changing your suspension....

I will also add that painting things like frames actually wastes a lot of material, so I can only imagine the balance of quality/quantity at that large of a scale!

The Patrol has been a popular bike in our lineup since it was release and it isn't going away, but no new version is on the immediate horizon. --Sam

The Canadian border is pretty annoying when you are trying to get to Whistler/North Shore/Squamish super fast!
In 2015, the same day I bought my first Klunker, I have two now, from you guys before you moved to Bellingham I was crossing at the Peace Arch with the bike still in the box and got pulled into the Canadian side to ask if I was selling it to someone up there. It is still the one and only time I have been hassled going into Canada and I cross a lot. Crossing back home to the US is a whole different story.

Love my Nexus pass though...

My question is, do you have any “left over” decals for the Klunkers or do you sell them? I am thinking I might repaint my white Klunker and would like to get some replacement decals if possible.

I will also join in and say please bring back the Klunk!

Thanks
