I am really getting the new bike jones out here, probably since we are getting nailed with snow and riding won't be happening for at least 6 weeks now ugh. I am looking at getting a Nukeproof mega carbon frameset and I see that they have a bunch of different coil options to choose from and I have always wanted to be able to ride a coil shock (and not have a 38 pound bike to lug around on the trails).
I have heard that the EXT Storia is an amazing coil shock but I also saw this Fast Suspension Fenix EVO shock available for the same price as the EXT shock frame. Has anyone had any experience on either that they could share? I'd really appreciate some input!

I Have never ridden a FAST coil but i Have just built up my Giga with the EXT - i am running a 25lb higher spring than recommended for a little less sag (around 27.5% instead of 30), I have followed their shock setup guide exactly.. and the bike is the best thing i have ever ridden.
If I were in the market for a coil I would definitely be looking at the E-Storia and not the Storia Lok V3.
Benefits of the former would be full control of the HBC as well as lockout lever plus newer internals and slightly better materials. You will pay extra tho
Thanks for the tips guys, the frames come with 4 different shock options so I narrowed it down to 2 but maybe should have included the push shock in the mix as well...I just know that I"m not getting an Fox X2 because I have seen first hand the reliability issues they have.
EXT coil shocks come shipped with two springs - FAST's don't. Since the Storia V3 and Fenix Evo both look very similar at first glance (almost the exact same price; can be custom tuned to your preferences), that makes me favor the Storia a little more.
I'm sure the Fast is fine but without a USA distributor/service center it'll be a pain when you need to have it tuned/serviced. Closest I know of is S4 in Quebec - I'm sure there are US shops that can do it but they'll be ordering parts from S4. EXT-USA will be much easier to deal with and is close to you in Utah.
I've spent the past 3 seasons on a Storia and 2 on an ERA and I've been quite happy. I don't have any ride time on anything recent from Fast (I think I had a Boxxer cartridge back in the day, I remember having to ship it to Quebec for service).
Thanks guys, looks like the EXT is the winner for me then. I hope it comes with both coils for the shock if I buy it as part of a frameset though.
Sadly I don’t think you’ll be getting two coils as part of the frame - I didn’t when I ordered my limited run giga frame, but the benefit is - the ext you’re getting on that frame is fully custom to the mega frame; it’s a storia lok v3 S, and it cannot be purchased as an individual component, I believe they have taken functions from the e-storia and storia and made a cool custom shock for the bike..
I have the Mega built up with the EXT shock (ie the custom one they're selling at the moment). I love it, you don't get two coils though - that said, the one that came with it seems to be about right for me.
Highly recommend it.
Sucks that they won't have many mixed wheel frames in stock until April and even then, they might be all spoken for and purchased already. Hard to want what you can't get
Not entirely relevant, but I do have a Fenix shock and it is brilliant. I had mine tuned specifically by Fabian from FAST, the man knows his stuff!
If they have the size you want in 290 there is a 297 Mx mega rear end they sell separately. Or get a giga 290 and the mullet link is only 80$. The giga is pretty fun and pedaling fast is overrated unless you are trying to win on the uphill
Thanks for the heads up on this, I had no idea that the giga had a mullet link available for $80. I'm so torn between the mega and the giga at this point, Idk what I will even end up getting. Possibly whatever comes in stock first lol

here is a Mach-umentery of the giga in case you missed it

the giga is has a lot of things in common with the dissent
Post a reply to: EXT Storia vs. Fast Fenix EVO coil shock for the Mega??
