Was 2009 season. But yes one of the first and they were blown away by the tires and how the casing held up compared to Maxxis at the time.

because it isn't 15%. as has been noted it is 50% for steel specifically. it is then % of overall weight, so say 20% of total weight of the bike. now take 20% of the landed cost of the bike. now multiple that by 50%. It grows quickly.

So something to note on pricing that is coming through. and this is not meant to be a political post. but the new steel tariffs HIGHLY affect bike prices. ESPECIALLY e-bikes. basically all the bike companies have to figure out the percentage of steel in a bike (HS, bearings, cassette, motors) and then that times the pricing of the bike...

To jump on this having dealt with spec'ing and getting bars to market, the 35 is stiffer than you will get out of a 31.8. Strength, at max strength 35 may be stronger, but trust me, we aren't getting near failure for either, at the end of the day, weight and flex are bigger issues for the industry than brute...
Great Pod! Colin you are one hell of a man. I commend you! I Wish I could get to know ya better! not to steal your thunder here… hoping to make it boom louder! I just had brain surgery for an AVM. On dec 12th. After having 17 staples in my head things started feeling pretty bleak. My arms also began shrinking lol. I was down to 118lbs at my first weigh-in after surgery steadily climbing now. After this q/a. I’m laughing and loving the vital mtb community even more. Colin, thanks again for the inspiration. From day to day...

Honestly the best format was the yearly. I think the single thread is ideal for rumors to start the discussion, then have it break out to individual. The BIG thread got bad, but the yearly thread was dialed. Just like race talk and team rumors. I get the web resource thing, so swapping it every year works. Also great for...

lol. That was a fun bike to build but was def not the favorite of those three prototypes for anyone. Def know the crew learned a bunch from that. I really enjoyed that toolbox too….

I think the other key thing about Sea Otter... it is consumer based, with the "tradeshow" doing on "behind the scenes". Its main focus externally and technically for the event is the consumer...not just the industry nerding out together. so makes for a bigger pull company wise, they get everything and everyone in one location, vs just other bike bros...

I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE

My guess is that NOBL isn't footing the billl. Evil is getting the rims (maybe at a discount) to replace the loopholes as needed. NOBL gets good press at helping to support the wheels, Evil has a partner to help support, and long term NOBL I am guessing becomes an OE partner for EVIL as well. Really doubt that NOBL...

For once I have to agree wholeheartedly with Bizutch. Wheels are disposable for a team at this level. At certain races as a mechanic I built 15 wheels in a weekend for racers. Sometimes they were 1 run wheels, sometimes they lasted two days. But not one person on my team at a WC raced on the same wheels they...
@ARonBurgundy what we gotta do to try those new tires out??

welcome to all the greats of their time. Nico, Sam Hill, Gwin (and others) keeping lines quiet until race day and then sending them. I don't think amateurs really understand the value of line choice and walking the tracks.
