WaffleStomp Added a comment about video A Eulogy to the Front Derailleur - In Loving Memory
3/17/2016 8:55am
Ahahaha... sigh, we all knew if was basically official when SRAM got every post with that leaked drivetrain taken down, but I suppose this is extra official. Goodbye dear front derailleur. I will fondly miss all your dropped chains, terrible shifts, extra weight, and being a pest for good geometry. Oh, wait, actually the FD was a plague on mtb. Good freakin' riddance.

WaffleStomp Added a comment about video Matt Hunter Rides the Turbo Levo FSR

Look, I get it- getting old an injured sucks. And yes, maybe you could keep up with the young'ins on your e-bike. But playing the sympathy card in no way changes the fact that this is a motorized vehicle. We don't allow ATVs on hiking trails just to for the sake of the handicapped, nor do we allow jet skis on no-motor lakes just because someone can't swim. I truly feel sorry for those who can no longer participate in the sport in the way they once did, whether it's due to injury, age, or some other factor. But please...

WaffleStomp Added a comment about feature Tested: e*thirteen TRS Group
3/7/2016 11:29am Erm, no, the LG1 is e13s DH crank. The TRS group competes with the Next SL. I have no idea why dirty booger is being neg propped, he is entirely correct.

3/7/2016 11:28am "coming it at 507g with a 32t direct mount ring. This compared to the other offerings on the market is very competitive, coming in roughly 40g lighter than another key manufacturer's carbon crank" Really?? More like 60 grams heavier than the benchmark! Better options abound....

WaffleStomp Added a comment about press release New 2017 Shimano Drivetrain Additions with 11-speed 11-46t Cassette, New Chainring and Chain Link
2/29/2016 8:28am 11-46T? Holy balls, that's an actually bold move from the captains of conservative design. And thank you Shimano for getting rid of the atrocious sub-pin design. We aren't roadies, we need easy to remove chains.

Unless you're hitting multiple bumps in a row. Then the impact is worse. Not saying I don't like rearward axle paths, just that it is a tradeoff, like everything else.

WaffleStomp Added a reply to Let's Build the Most Expensive TRAIL Bike Ever
2/5/2016 7:53pm Jesus- this is starting all wrong. 3500 is the best you can do for a frame? Please. BMC trailfox is 4999 for the frame and shock alone. https://www.bikeexchange.com/a/mountain-bike-frames/bmc/ca/san-marcos/t… But that's just for a plebeian air shock, and we want primo coil, right?

11/5/2015 9:20am This is an application of plus size I can get behind. It makes sense for hardtails, because you're not going to be charging rock gardens fast enough for the balloon tires to really mess with your suspension. You gain traction and compliance with a tiny bit of a weight penalty, and it makes for a fun bike overall. Seems like a good use of the tech. Also, mucho kudos for saying what needs to be said: no, plus size doesn't magically make your HT a FS bike. Stop pretending it does. Thank you.

Uh, bringing in the non-argument of lift access is the real dumb issue here. Namely, lift access parks are either on private land, or private permitted land. They can allow whatever the hell they want on their terrain, including full blown 450 MX bikes if they feel so inclined. The issue with e-bikes is that they are MOTORIZED vehicles. I have no problem with e-bikes at all, provided they are used in areas reserved for motorized vehicles.

7/6/2015 7:38am NO. It is, by definition, a different "sport" when there is any sort of alternate power source. So please start a new site called VitalEbike and post these turds there. This is a potentially damaging trend for trail access. Earn your turns, find buddies to shuttle with, or pay for a lift ticket. Do NOT ruin my trail access with a motored vehicle. These things should all be painted "Scarlet Yellow" so we can spot the dopes buying these to go poach non-motorized trails with a motor.

1/8/2015 8:47am Eh, fair enough I guess- to each their own. The write-up is excellent though, definitely gives enough info to make a decision even if I personally may disagree with the rating. Cheers!
