This review really doesn't seem to match up with the rating. You say it can be handful in rough, chundery lines and tends to blow through it's travel on big hits and hard g-outs, but is plenty playful on the hops and jumps. That's a characteristic I'd expect (and be fine with) on a short travel rig, but on something with 160mm in back? As was said in the Genius LT review- what's the point of hauling that much travel to the top of the trail if it's anything less than stellar on the way down? Given the competition in...

That hurts guys. A little email and I could have been there to supply some free wrenching and cooking. I would have loved to meet the crew too. And not Art's Cycles?

As someone who owned a Kona stinky at one point... yeah, pretty sure walking would be faster on the climbs, motor or no (I kid... sort of). I agree that there certainly are trails where the motor won't make you faster (see Gee Atherton vs David Knight at Ft. Bill), but on most trails it will. Moab has lots of the latter, and on the select few of the former, an e-bike would just be a huge liability.

There's a local powersports shop that does custom jobs on Santa Cruz frames, I've ridden ones on Tallboy LTs (2013 model I think), the new 2015 Nomads, and the 2014 V10. The motors are all right at the federal legal limit of 750 W at up to 20 mph before the assistance cuts out (my state has no explicit limits and uses the federal one). I think the total weight comes to about 55 lbs including battery pack, so that really makes for a hell of a lot of power for the weight. Basically, between me (a reasonably fit rider)...

Bravo. E-bikes are motorized vehicles and should not be on bicycle trails.

Good, here's to hoping this sets the proper precedent: e-bikes = motorized vehicles. Also, let me forestall the barrage of ignorant criticisms: yes, I have ridden an e-bike. I think they're a great invention, and they are a cool piece of technology. For xmas, I'm seriously thinking of getting one as a commuter ride. That being said, and anyone who has ridden one can confirm this, e-bikes are motorized vehicles, plain and simple. That awesome feeling of scrabbling up a loose, steep slope at 20 mph or accelerating out of turns faster than even the pros is not something you...

Two questions for ya Jeff: 1) How do you think this compares with the new SC Nomad or YT Capra? They all seem like bikes with similar purposes in mind. 2) Is a shock swap something you think would help the mid-stroke support? Maybe a Vivid Air or CCDBair?
