I wish we had even one company still making a proper 27.5 trail bike that could be used for slalom without crazy mods. 3rd gen 5010 was the peak it feels like.

If they only made a 220... I think we are mostly in agreement. It is definitely the infrared spectrum that matters. I could have phrased it better. To my knowledge objects that appear black in the visible are more likely to emit better in the infrared, though with standard pigments the difference is fairly low. This is why the majority of radiative paints are black.

What? Where are you getting this information? It is pretty well documented phenomenon that dark colors emit heat more readily than light colors. Here is an experiment you can do at home to prove it. https://www.exploratorium.edu/snacks/give-and-take I suspect the Shimano paint also has other additives that make it better at radiative cooling. These may make even more of a difference than the color.

It's a thermodynamic thing. In the same way that a white car in the sun doesn't get as hot as a black car (because it absorbs less radiation from the sun), a hot black surface emits more radiation than a silver surface at the same temperature.

I'm impressed you fit a 2.6 in the rear. I've heard that sb150s have trouble clearing 2.5s without rubbing.
