Tehllama Added a comment about video Drone Skills
5/14/2023 9:18am Combination of two things: it's unbelievably hard to chase bikes with an aircraft that will go to triple digit speeds in half a second, with this tight a proximity downhill that's an insane level of control. The other part is that the primary focus is being able to get 3 second TikTok ready clips of Damien absolutely shredding, which this has a couple dozen of executed perfectly. I totally appreciate that the full edit is hard to watch for people who don't fly FPV. Watch some of the kids doing SBang videos, and this is tame by comparison.

Tehllama Added a reply to Best front AND rear tire
3/29/2020 12:46pm DHR-II Front // e.13 SemiSlick Rear (29x2.4 on both). For dry desert conditions and going fast with maximum braking potential on the front tire. The e.13 Semislicks come in super-beefy casings (while the MinionSS 29er tires don't seem to actually exist in the retail world in any casing other than EXO).
Tehllama Added a comment about product review Forekaster (2017)
11/17/2017 8:05pm As another data point - 29" 2.35 Forekaster. I got one on a bike that was new to me, and fully expected to remove it, but it's done remarkably well. I ride almost exclusively loose over hardpack and hardpack desert conditions, and ride aggressively through rocks on carbon rims, and I have yet to be disappointed in the performance of the tire. I will finally swap it out this season for a beefier casing Minion, but I've mostly decided to retire it from tread wear. I'm really curious about running a 2.6x29" tire for my XC-Trail hardtail setup - just...

Tehllama Added a comment about feature Vital MTB Face Off: The Best Dropper Seatposts
5/9/2017 10:05pm Yup, practically unbeatable if local support is a must have. FWIW, that's what I've been running since last December, couldn't be happier

5/9/2017 10:04pm Awesome stuff. I concur that the BikeYoke is brilliantly engineered; but it's hard to compete on price, support, and overall feel of the Fox Transfer with a WolfTooth lever. Love mine.

5/9/2017 10:01pm Use a wolftooth lever with the fox and you have a matchmaker and Ispec Lever for the same price as the fox lever. Have one on mine. Has a better feel and look in my opinion also.

badbietz Liked a comment about video What's the World Champ Think? Danny Hart on 29ers in DH Racing
5/5/2017 10:26pm
The problem is if you limit the wheel size you are then giving the advantage to the smaller and lighter riders who fit the 27.5 platform better. What is next limiting everyone to flat pedals because clips give you more power, everyone has to run 165mm cranks and 780mm bars with 2.4 tires? As Danny said if it is faster for a given rider they will run it, if not they won't. The biggest challenge is to keep the integrity of the tracks so they stay proper DH tracks, that will solve everything.

4/29/2017 9:55pm What happened to Florent Payet? I'd be gutted if he couldn't run in the final, after putting it on the podium in Val di Sol

Tehllama Added a reply to XL and XXL bikes in Downhill?
3/30/2017 10:42pm Whereas I'm also 6'2", but long legged. I'm happiest on a bike marked XXL, with a reach in the 475mm range. It's a long bike 452mm chainstays, and running a longer fork I think the wheelbase is pushing 49"... But the added length out back keeps it balanced. The strange part is that this is the most reactive and playful...

bturman Liked a product review Review - 2017 Giant Trance Advanced from Vital MTB Test Sessions
2/28/2017 5:42pm
The 2017 Giant Trance Advanced sports nearly everything one could want out of a spec sheet. Do you want a carbon mainframe? Look no further. Want a really lightweight bike that can also rip down the trails? Sign us up. Want carbon wheels? The new Boost standard? A Metric shock? Every Trance Advanced model has those, too. With 10mm more travel up front compared to years past, the new Trance also sports 150mm/140mm of travel front and rear while rolling on 27.5-inch wheels. That's not all that's been updated, though, with an entirely new frame at work. Giant claims this...

Tehllama Added a comment about feature Aaron Gwin's Signature Onza Tire Is More Than Just a Look-alike
2/15/2017 6:15pm The biggest knock I've seen is that it looks like a DH F/R minion with Butcher side knobs... Which promises most of the cornering traction of a DHF/Butcher, most of the braking traction of a DHR2, and the rolling resistance average of those three, depending on center tread durometer... If expectations are still for a dry weather tire in 900g weight class that rolls acceptably and keeps up when the going gets gnarly, then I'm not at all skeptical.
