Hard tails are cool and all, but, they are slower on rocky terrain for the average rider. I would recommend a shorter travel trail bike with a slacker front end. Seems like an "OK" value when it comes to DTC models. The YT Capra 27.5 Base or the Commencal Meta AM 29 Ride offer slightly improved build kits, better geo, proven performance, and a better unboxing experience for $100 less. 70 Degree seat angle???

You do realize he has the CSMX8-EA5 cassette on the bike, and that particular cassette is a 11-50T cassette. I have this same cassette on one of my bikes, GX Eagle on another, and XO Eagle on another. The Sunrace cassette shifts fine, and offers an nearly unnoticeable experience to most Eagle or 12sp setups. I also live at 5280ft elevation, and do 45m-1hr climbing on the front range of Colorado before I get a descent, so I understand steep climbing at higher altitudes. I know if I had a perfectly good 11sp XT group around, I probably would have...

Its not the fastest climber, mainly due to the weight, but it climbs well. It would probably do better without Cushcore, but I like having the insert for the way down. The biggest advantage to running the bike in short travel mode is the fact the bike is more nimble and lighter on its feet. Its a pretty damn fun bike to ride, even if it gets rowdy.
