Would be interesting to see a feature comparing prices across the board. I'd assume Yeti and Evil are among the most expensive, but Rocky is not far behind... It's curious to me - it's a relatively simple design, and the value doesn't seem strong on these. Then again, I think we can see the writing on the wall - prices are going to be up dramatically across the board this year.

Wow! That's like a Trek Fuel EX 5, but cheaper and with slightly better components [tires, brakes]. Fabriqué au Canada!

If transition brings aluminum back like they are promising they deserve a big nod. Everyone is still copying their geo from 4 years ago and most still haven’t figured out getting the extremely low stand over the transition line has. I’m also a huge fan of their content of fresh cut trails by a pretty unique gang of people.

The fact we're to the point that "Budget" brakes are too powerful is pretty neat.

Would bet they are compatible considering the Alpine Trail XR comes with a coil and uses the same suspension platform.

Its a good deal, but Giant were going similar with a better spec some years ago. 38 with a dpx2 seem's a little out of ballance, spec it for that price with an X2 and that's a winner.

Carbon 1 with no piggy shock is pretty meh. What's the deal with these bikes still that can take long travel droppers yet are only 30.9mm? I'll take the slight weight penalty of a 34.9mm post for more stiffness (although are companies actually making the telescopic part thicker or just the outside diameter which defeats the purpose of a thicker dropper?)

As a medium human with mild observational skills, I empathize. I feel as though the low seat tube thing has gone too far for you tall riders. People over 5'11" don't need DJ seat tubes.

On the flip side, unless you're tail-whipping trail bikes, do we really need super short seat tubes? I may be biased, but as a tall rider, I'll take all the seat tube length I can get.

The stumpy evo has a short insertion depth, which negates the benefit of their short seat tubes.

Its hard to classify it as a trail bike, but then again, the trail bike spectrum has changed so much in the past 2-3 years. It seems like there are "Down Country Bikes" like the Transition Spur, YT Izzo, and Specialized Epic Evo, and then the "True Trail Bikes" like Santa Cruz Tallboy, Trek Fuel EX 29, Stumpjumper, Norco Optic and such, and then maybe the all mountain name returns with bikes like this and the Stumpjumper EVO, Norco Sight, Knolly Fugitive, and dare I say the Transition Sentinel and Scout?
