7/31/2025 7:39am There are definitely some "lifetime" Red Bull athletes. Some that are still involved in their sport (think, Travis Rice, Parks Bonifay, Daron Rahlves), but some have moved away from sports (think Jon Olsson, who is basically just in business development and real estate and social media). Gwin or maybe Semenuk could be the closest in mtb, and I could see...

7/25/2025 6:49am Hard disagree. IMO, if you watch Hardline like a WC DH stop, you're going to be disappointed. If you watch is a more of an event than a race, and include all the practice and pre-race footage, it's fantastic. You get riders from all over the spectrum. Fast, really fast and WC winning fast, but also freeriders and trick riders...

7/24/2025 6:36am all that pre-season content from theo, matt, and ronan (and more) was so good. so perfect to basically have 3 levels interacting. theo can drop matt... but ronan can drop theo. it's so interesting to see those delineations to kinda comprehend the speed of pros. like local heroes drop me. matt jones could probly drop good local guys here. but then he gets dropped by someone... who gets dropped by someone else. "There are levels."

7/23/2025 6:32pm Jones track walk is so good. Like, Ronan or Asa is probably going to win and I love the actual race, but Jones' track walk and practice content is so entertaining. Will definitely miss Jackson, but hopefully there will be a ton of good Jones, Ronan, Theo content coming out this week, like Tasmania.

7/22/2025 4:17pm Not about to condemn the actions of a kid fresh on a factory ride whose bike breaks during/after a winning run. I'm sure I'd be full panic mode right then if I were him. I agree the pivot thing is a bigger deal because of the "coverup". Reality is bikes break, it's about how you deal with it. Likewise when a bike breaks in a review and they get the marketing team on some "pre production" BS story, it's a little hollow. If your warranty numbers are good, just tell us that. Shit happens.

7/22/2025 2:02pm Pretty sure the Scott team has been racing on that frame all season so far.

7/22/2025 2:07pm I'm pretty sure it was a big deal with the Pivot/BK thing because: A) the initial catastrophic failure of the prototype at Crankworx, WITH a subsequent video and bunch of articles going through the failure and how they were fixing things. And then no acknowledgement that the new frame actually broke. After the transparancy from the first failure, this one...

7/22/2025 1:51pm Or maybe it was just one off accident? How many years have Atherton been making dh bikes racing WC and Hardline, crazy Gee lines, etc and this is the first one to break like that?

7/22/2025 1:43pm Just to clarify. They Streisand'd the whole scenario. It's not like BK has the best reputation regardless (gestures vaguely at recent events) but he asked for the clip to be removed from MoiMoi's youtube video and generally tried to hide the event within the media and sweep it under the rug. Plus it came after his devastating live crash at Crankworx. Plus it had the added context of people going 'well its just a proto with an unfortunate proto flaw' for the first one, and then that happened. He got perfect storm'd... By some factors outside of his control and...

7/19/2025 7:13am Not Mavens, but I'm using Lewis masters paired with Magura calipers. I'd been intrigued about eeking more power out of the stock LH4 I was initially using. The LH4 caliper uses 17 & 14 mm pistons, so I gained quite a bit with the quad 17 mm pistons in the Magura I was thinking about pairing them with a Cura 4 caliper or a Maven base caliper, but was unsure if the 18 mm pistons would mean I'd have too much lever throw before the pads would contact and didn't want to risk it. Plus I found the Magura calipers...

7/19/2025 6:17am Canyon gap is out for Hardline. Sounds like they felt they had made it safer and it would have been fine, but it's just become too controversial at this point, so it's out. (From Gee and Dan on the Downtime podcast)

7/18/2025 7:56am Super curious about today's BOTD brake set up. Maven calipers matched to Lewis levers. Say what you will about Lewis, but their levers feel really good. Very light and smooth. I'd definitely be interested to see how much of a faff it was pairing them, or if it went pretty smoothly.

7/14/2025 7:51am I'm not sure it's a conspiracy. I think it makes sense that he'd do better on a track that isn't as steep and needs more pedaling/power vs a steep/technical track where Jackson's size means he can brake later and carry more speed in/out of corners and through crazy technical sections.
