currently up front i have 26/36 and rear 10/42. that's cool you rigged a 24 to your narrow/wide. problem solving!

I agree. Currently, I use a cheater granny on the front. A finger-shifted 24t ring in addition to my narrow wide ring. A 50 tooth 12 speed cog might do it though.

i really have wanted to go 1x, but i can't just yet. 1x12? perhaps. some climbs out here in the rocky mountain american west, particularly the alpine of the san juan range of colorado... i just can't do it without the granny gear. of course, 1x might turn that "climb" into a "hike a bike." bahaha

I think the crux of the difference is that, for instance, fairclough imagined and created that feature he built with his builders. The wooden features onsight are from the mind and efforts of the organizers, and hence lack the individual rider's imaginative creativity as well as individual effort to build them. Thoughts? By the way I think the wooden features are an awesome part of rampage but I share great respect for the riders who build their own line "feautures" all the more.

so much carnage... these are professional athletes committing for their endeavors. there is a collective tone of hesitancy by the riders to just blurt out pumped-up comments of radness... i dunno... the courses keep getting more and more gnarly... & the athlete's injuries keep mounting. but this is racing, and the risk & damage done are the result of athletes pushing to the brink of their limits. i greatly respect that, but also recognize the sacrifices to personal safety that they are making. great coverage, vital. this is life, lived intensely. & i can feel it via your coverage.

thanks again for the inspiring coverage. really getting a sense of the "grind" of the WC circuit. the pic of rache atherton after wrecking sums up the mental and physical toll of the endeavor. what a wonky weekend for the athletes! looking forward to the next race... thanks again.
