They should be able to alter a frame for him if necessary, like Gwin's cut and shut Demo he ran at the start of 2015.

I guess there is some truth in what you are saying, but I still think Marc is capable of good results, top tens even. I don't think the mtb channel is the only reason he got hired.

I think that's a bit disrespectful. The guy is a world cup winner not that long ago, at Val di Sole of all places. Then followed up that with a 4th place at the same venue in 2012, the year Gwin won by around 8 seconds. The situation at GT with the Athertons clearly didn't suit him and he's taken...

My Yeti DH9 back in 2003. Best DH bike I've ever owned by far and way ahead of it's time. Who else was running a super long toptube with a 63 degree head angle back then? Seem to be a lot of Yetis on here. Maybe they should take note and release a new bike instead of teasing us...

I agree, why would he live out of a suitcase and spend time away from his family just to 'hang out' with the guys. Steve Peat is an ambassador to the sport and the value he brings to the Syndicate demands a salary. Peaty is a pretty shrewd businessman and you're right he doesn't need the money, but I'm sure...

It's a nice idea but it's not cheap or easy to simply add another top level rider to a team. Salary, travel costs, mechanic, logistics, pit space, etc. I guess Peaty will just ride the first world cup in national jersey and pick up enough points there to see him through the rest of the season. edit - they have...

Oz_Taylor Added a reply to slack, long-travel, pedal-able 29ers?

Cool, interesting site! But these crazy dudes want a long, slack, 180mm travel 29" lightweight trail bike that they can ride uphill. Have you guys played with longer travel 29" setups?

A large E29 has roughly the same reach as an XL SC V10. 29" wheels add about 75mm to the overall length of the bike compared to 650b. If you put a Large E29 next to an XL V10, the E29 will be longer. How long do you want your trail bike to be? I agree the E29 is a...

You are correct, technically the Reign/Strive are longer in the wheelbase but when you factor in the size of the 29" wheels, the overall bike length is longer (around 3"). With the big contact patch and extra rotating mass at the very ends of the bike, it makes the E29 more of handful in my opinion, especially if you run...

I ride an Spesh Enduro 29 in size large. I'm 6ft 2" and long-limbed and whilst the bike is undoubtedly fast and fun, it does get hard to handle on tight trails and even technical climbs due to it's size. Compared side by side with a Large 27.5 Giant Glory, the Enduro is both longer and the bar height is...

Oz_Taylor Added a reply to How do you guys store your bikes?

Most modern forks have sealed dampers with only a small amount of oil to lubricate the upper seals and bushings. The seals are at the top of the forks, so if anything there is likely to be more oil sitting against the upper seals with the forks stored this way. is this really a common problem? I've never experienced it...

Horizontal spacing is 70cm and vertical roughly 50cm. You do get some overlap of the bars with wider bars but different head angle and bar heights mean that the bikes still hang properly. You might have problems if all your bikes have a similar bar height and have 750mm+ bars, but you could always stagger the hooks on each row...

Here's my setup. Plywood board screwed to the wall joists to secure the hooks to. The hooks are staggered so I can fit 7 bikes in a fairly tight space. It's easy to unhook each one individually. Was pretty cheap too, about $60 all together. Just need to paint the plywood board so it blends in to the wall.

Looks to me like Audi and RedBull are shooting some kind of advert. With the mention of snow in Gwin's post, this is where I think Audi's involvement is likely to be, afterall they are title sponsor of the FIS Ski World Cup and sell shed loads of quattro equipped cars to people who enjoy winter sports. A link up...

Woah...so it's all change at the Syndicate? Or are SC just redecorating? Peaty retires to make way for a certain Frenchman...no way!

'tis an old pic but the seeds of a team with Palmer at the helm could have been sown a lot time ago. Combined with the sketch of the Palmeresque crown and 'a new king' written in french it seems a possibility to me. Also with the new M16C being a carbon copy of the V10 (pun intended) it might...

Oz_Taylor Added a reply to Why are VitalMTBs forums so dead?

Because Pinkbike. Seriously though I think it's just down to demographics. The guys who use Vital are probably a bit older and have less spare time than your average PB user. Personally I would rather be out riding than posting on forums. I come to Vital for the latest news, reviews and frankly awesome race coverage/photography. I kind of know...
