I live in Lakewood now. I work in aviation- not at all affiliated with MTC. Long time prior summit county resident with good friends in vail valley and ride there often.

I’m not clear about the context of the negativity toward MTC in this post, but it’s my opinion that everything they have worked on in the Vail valley is fantastic and well built. I do know that some trails have been “sanatized” by the VVMTA which has ruffled feathers and MTC was not a part of - perhaps that is what was being referred to. Lee’s Way is an excellent example of a fairly old MTC build that is awesome to ride, provides true pitch, and is sustainably built. I would say MTC is one of the best trail builders...

In front range CO, I’ve been using max gripp up front as well, except in winter. Last cold (<40) ride, max grip assegai felt like riding through glue. Maxterra made a huge difference.

No, I've been pedaling with the HR3 dh casing tires and it hasn't been too bad. I think a DHR2 in the rear or something similar with more ramp would be better if I wanted to make the bike faster pedaling. That, or lighter casing tires. But the Reign has a very upright pedaling position that's sweet for grinding out bigger climbs. It isn't the fastest moving, but it's enjoyable to pedal nonetheless.

Great review! Was wondering, do you switch tires out for days when you’re pedaling more? If not, are you doing long climbs with that bike?

5/17/2024 7:17pm I have a short reach too. At 6’ my wife who is only 5’ 5’ has a longer reach then me…I would never get into a boxing ring with her. Love that Dak is pushing boundaries here. Looking forward to the innovation this brings. Watching him on the bike the style is totally different… I think other guys might like...

That looked pretty cool! But question… always wondered where KHS gets the funds to support these domestic racers and events. Rad they do, but confused as to the financials of how that is possible.

This is amazing! I never comment, but this was worth the time. You guys captured the true stoke of MTB. Also great to see peeps with bikes and tiny ass economy cars, not TRD Pro's and full size trucks. Great stuff!!

So interesting that Logan had in his mind that the gravity casing tire felt quicker even when climbing uphill. Perhaps from a psychological perspective, after he felt faster with that tire downhill, it made him recall the climb was faster too? Very good "Pepsi" challenge indeed!
